i didn't think they let you install the same rom you already have, you get some error message on screen. You may have togo to A01 and then to A02 again.

Umm... why would you want to swap A02 for a downloaded version of A02? (If I understand you correctly).
It's the same exact ROM. You're not getting anything extra from using the downloaded version of A02.

why dosen't someone just answer his freakin question? jeeze - i would look around for the A01 update and see if it won't accept that - then download the new one and install that one.
let me look around for the A01 (or even A00 if there is one?..) - if i find it i'll host and post a link to it

Well, to be honest, since he hasn't done an upgrade to which he can revert back to a previous version of the ROM, I don't want to give information that could possibly render his Axim inoperable . . .
Edit - Dell only has A02 on their website. There is not a "previous versions" link, so you can't get A01 on Dell's site. If you were able to find A01, you would more than likely receive the same error during the upgrade.

It sounds to me like he wants to do the equivalent of a "format and re-install" of the O/S much like we have all done on our desktop Microsoft computers from time to time.
Personally I think it would be much easier to just do a hard reset. That would take any extraneous files out of RAM and leave the core files in ROM.

There can't be two different versions of A02, one would have to be A03, which isn't out yet.

this isn't about what you think is best for him - its about a question he asked. if you know the answer and want to post, then answer the question. if you think he should be leary state that as well. forums aren't about withholding information they are about sharing it. so what if his ax goes dead? i am not saying i don't care i'm saying its not the end of the world. either return the stupid thing for another one/refund or put A02 back on it.

try this:
http://support.dell.com/FileLib/Type...&DeviceID=6672
i got the link through searching here; you might be able to yank the A01 update from there, not sure (it takes forever to load dell's support site for me for some reason).
if you do get it, remember to back up your current ROM just to be safe.
of course if everyone here weren't so stuck on assuming they know whats best for you they could more than likely supply the A01 ROM update directly to you - but apparently they know what you want to do with your ax better than you do
