Video Encoding

Hello people,

I am trying to find some software that will allow me to watch my AVI / Mpegs on my X30H with 1GB SD card.

I have been told to use the windows media 9 encoder to convert any files to WMV format for PPC.

The output video is great however the sound is always like 10 mins ahead. I think the original file had used AC3 or mp3 for the audio of the video file. as the orignal files had already been compressed.

Would it be best if i just convert all the files i want to watch on PPC to the pocket DivX? Also i can stream a small mpeg clip using mpegviewer and it works fine, but anyother file with a high bit rate will always be laggy, is this due to the highbit rate and slow wireless connection?

What is my best bet, I know how to convert a dvd to mpeg, but what do i do from there?

Thanks.

I don't have an Axim yet. However, on my Ipaq 1910, I used Pocket-DVD studio to convert my dvds to avi files and PocketMVP for playback.

AVS Video Converter 2.7.5
It converts all formats to all formats. I use it to convert mpg and avi files to 320*240 wmv files. (The correct setting for this is: Windows Media Video 8 for Local Area Network 256Kbps) Its pretty fast too so I recomend it warmly.
I have converted all Family Guy episodes this way and the result is 36,6MB sized files.

Hi All
Thanks for the replies!
I will try the AVS Video Converter 2.7.5
However the Pocket-DVD studio, is this freeware or is there a charge for this? Also does Pocket-DVD studio compress the DVD to AVI files much? Also does this take long to first decrypt the CSS of the DVD and then encode to different file format?

Thanks once again

Tom
