Some memory tweaker apps like MemMaid (answering from my Axim so no links, sorry) can do this for you automatically.

Using a registry editor, navigate to HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Exp lorer\Shell Folders
There are 3 keys, Cache, Cookies & History, modify each one, changing the \Windows to \Sd Card.
Do a soft reset and you'll bee all set.

Great thing about this hack is that you can delete all the files in the temp folders by removing and re-installing the SD Card before using File Explorer or something similar to delete the whole folder!

A little bit because of the write speed of most of the SD cards and the speed of the Axim's SD slot. If you decide to pursue this, I recommend GDIO's manual registry method. I used MemMaid, and ran into an issue when I went to put the TEMP PIE folder back into main memory. This may have since been fixed in a recent release of MemMaid. From my recollection, it did slow surgfing down a bit because it had to wait for the page to write the files to the SD card. I also notice a slowdown using NetFront, and I cache temp files to SD card with it. I leave the PIE Temp Internet Files in Main Memory, and clear them out after each browsing session using Pocket Mechanic.

Yes, negatively affects performance. Even with a very fast memory card, my X30h PIE slowed to a crawl when surfing. I switched back to keeping the temps in RAM.

Hmm, was thinkin of doin this until i kept readin through the posts. My Kingston has pretty terrible write send even when card reader but read speed is very fast. I took my 2 minutes to copy the 400+MBs of files off my SD card but it is going to take around 30 to put them back on it :(

Is there anyway to limit the size PIE can cache on ram?

Yep, MemMaid can do this, and I believe RegKing as well. I'm sure it's just modifying a registry value, and I'm not sure which value that is off the top of my head . . .
