a05 english rom on french pocket pc?

is it possible to update the french a00 rom of an axim x30 with the new a05 english one?

has anyone tried to install an english rom on a non english axim x30?

im pretty sure u can...but u will get the english version of pocket pc os...is that what u want?

yeah i know that windows mobile would be in english, but the question is whether or not there is a risk of (can we use another verb here?) up my axim...

got the same issue here, i got a german one and was wonder the answer for this problem...
my big concern is regarding mswords since i really need "Umlaut" on my screen keyboard and i find it is quite annoying if i did not have it as in english keyboard...

doesnt dell have at least a02 rom for the french or german? if so, y dont u just wait for the dell to officially release those rom for ur language?

dell considers french as the third world of computing...

there have been no rom update released for french customers for the X30
so I doubt dell is going to release the a05 this time :(

looks like i'm blocked on a00 with wm9 and wifi reactivation bug for a while :(

yes you can, but that involves hacking the A05 ROM image, it can be done using a hex editor. i do not recommend it since there is a chance of screwing up your device, voids your warrantym AND it's illegal...

lol @ dell consider france a third world country! my solution for u is either move to usa or get the usa axim model over the internet!

try this.....
put the .img file after extracting, to SD card
upon resetting, press the middle button on the d-pad
and then you see the unusual page, it's rom upload page

warning: do it at your own risk, and may void your warranty

you're partially correct on this one - the Bootstrap still checks the language version so doesn't really work, unless u modify the rom image (around the 4F area i think...not really sure). :(
