Network at work restrictions

I recently set up WiFi at work and am able to use my X30 on it. However there are restrictions to where I can go and retrictions on certain programs that need an internet connection that I want to use; such as AIM & Outlook. Both those programs are blocked. Does anyone know what I can do to get around this so I can use those programs. I know of a HTTP-TUNNEL program but as far as I know it only works on pc. I can't get it to work on my PPC. Any ideas?

Many companies have the ability to take serious action if you're trying to circumvent their network and security policies. I'd be aware of the possible impact before doing anything.

I would ask the IT guys first.

If that doesn't work then I'd guess you out of luck. You can configure proxy settings (though you don't say if you're using one) but they will not be applied to things like Outlook etc.

EDIT - Looks like you're an IT guy - so maybe ask your boss instead :) I've worked in IT and find that companies are often more flexible when it comes to IT people toys :)

Where I work. To get AIM to work I changed the port number to 21.(this goes for desktop systems too) For outlook I don't know of any way to get it to work.
