Scaling my processor (NOT another OC thread)

First off, I am not asking about overclocking so please let's not let this drift into a overclocking war.

I am asking about the main function of scaling software... To scale your processor.

What is all of your honest opinion on scaling the processor more frequently than the OS does?

For example:
0-25% usage 208MHz
26-50% usage 312MHz
51-75% usage 520MHz
76-100% usage 624MHz

Never above 624MHz.

It seems that the processor would be changing Frequencies alot.
I don't know if that's bad. I read somewhere that our processors are designed for that.

It also seems more suitable to run the processor according to load as opposed to the huge 208 -> 624 jump the OS does.

Any input? What do you guys think?

I use XCPUScalar. It does help with battery life. The downside is, even though I have a fairly aggressive ramp-up (see below), I do notice a performance hit on my X30

0-15% 208MHz
16-30% 416MHz
31-55% 520MHz
56-100% 624MHz
