Mort Player 3.01

Well, I lived with it for a couple of days, and Mort Player has replaced GS Player as my favorite MP3 player. EQ and Effects work great. Net radio works great. It has a screen lock (black screen, turns off the touch screen). Sounds great. Everything works great, almost.

Also supports scrolling through playlists, another big plus for me since I have internet radio playlists, my PC hard drive playlists, and my SD card playlists.

EQ has a number of presets and lets you make more (I have one for my surround computer speakers, one for my Sony Fontopia canal phones, and another for my Koss "The Plug" canal phones).

Advantage for me over GS player is that GS takes forever to load my large playlists, and Mort loads them nearly instantly.

OK, the almost. It doesn't allow a button assignment for Button 6. And for the left/right d-pad buttons, it doesn't allow my preferred arrangement of fast forward and rewind. Not show stoppers for me. Reg hacks don't work to change those omissions.

[edit] I emailed "Mort" and he told me that fast forward and rewind are referred to as "Track Position", and that option is available. He's going to fix "Button 6".

The biggest plus is the large button arrangement (with landscape support). I can use this really well with my motorcycle gloves on while riding. The main buttons are located in the corners of the screen, which makes finding them with the screen dark a snap. Very nice job.

If you tried it before, it's like a whole different player now. Now he just has to get his Paypal link working so I can send in a donation.

A bit overladen, isn't it?

I'm still looking for a neat mp3 player which should comprise
Easy Handling
File Management
Today Plug-In
Sleep Timer

I've tried many programms and would even buy for them but the perfect match is still a long time in coming.

If you mean playlists with "http://my.server.com/track.mp3" it should work. In V3.01 it only played the first song, because I assumed all "http"s to be "radio streams", i.e. with "endless" data like shoutcast streams. If such a stream stops, it's usually because of a connection error, and it's usually better to allow a restart instead of skipping to the next file.
In V3.1 (released today), this handling continues only if there's a single http entry in the playlist, otherwise the next one is read.
Network paths (\\server\path\file.mp3) are working fine almost since the player exists...
If it doesn't work at all, maybe something is wrong with the connection? Or simply a typo?

Oh, and the "Button 6" problem is fixed, too... Just forgot to put it in the history...

@tolip: I know, it seems quite overladen, but you don't have to use all the features. You can also only use "+"-"Other paths/playlist" or "- files" and the usual controls, like you have to do it with almost every other player. But once set up properly (esp. the favorites), many things are much easier.

Oh, the official site is here.
The donations page was fixed, too.
And there are some nice new skins.

Does Mort Player support iTunes encoded music? Does anyone know of any which do?

The goods: x30H, Rhinoskin Case, 1GB SD, BT Keyboard. Also, 40GB IPOD, Toshiba Laptop, Canon G6 7.1 MP Camera. Isn't technology grand! :approve:

If anyone knows how to play iTunes music on an Axim without burning it to a CD and then transferring let me know, please! Thanks :)

It doesn't play AAC, but you can convert the songs to MP3 (or burn and rip if they're protected...).
