Excuse my english I speak spanish only.
I have the best solution for change the languaje of your axim from and towards any language. You need the rom of the languaje to use:

Non-combo models: P16A_ALL_N_10070400EN.IMG (english)
Combo models: P16A_ALL_C_10070400EN.IMG (english)

If you download the rom from Dell page you can change the .Exe extension for an .Zip extension and extract only the file you need.
Then copy this rom into an SD card (in FAT16 format only) and insert in the axim. Put your x30 in the craddle or plug directly with the power supply (unplug usb cable).
Then you need to press and hold this buttons:
Reset Button + Power Button + Jog Dial (is under the earphones plug) + Contacts Button
Then release only the Power Button and the Reset Button, if is ok the Power Button are blinking and then you can see the boot screen, release the other buttons and DON´T TOUCH THE SCREEN PLEASE Automatically the axim load the new rom from the SD card and erase the old rom and write the new. When this process finish the axim reboot and initialize and you can configure.
I change my X30 and my old X5 from English to Spanish without problem.

hi,... did anyone try this to downgrade from a06 english to a05 english??? :-( i really need to downgrade as a06 has so many issues about filesys.exe and almost uses cpu constantly at 70% and above with every tap.. :-(

wow it worked to downgrade from a06 to a05 english all i did was format the sd card with fat16 copy the combo img file to sd card and reboot with the boot from sd card keys .. reset+power+contacts+jog dilal buttons and release only reset and power keys :approve::approve::approve::approve: awesome !!!! now filesys.exe isnt taking 100% of cpu and my axim is fast and responsive again :)

Hi,
tried to change language from french to english using the method provided by Argentina. After a seemingly successful rom upgrade my Axim did not boot and will no longer boot/start/reset... nothing, not even using the 'magic buttons'! in other words it is non functional. any ideas?

Before I try it out, can anybody tell me if this method from Argentina also works when changing from the latest English Rom (A05) to the latest German rom?

YEEEEEEES! Amazing, obviously you can downgrade, upgrade, change language or do anything you want with this method!
It worked just fine and took only a few minutes, now I have a German x30! Now I can sell it on EBAY :)

I'll spred this method, just awesome!!!!!

Anyone tried updating to newer ROM releases after having changed languages? If so, what were the results?

Hello everybody,

I have also tried the method presented by argentina and it worked without problems. I had a Dell Axim X30i with german WM 2003SE and ROM A01, so I changed it to A05 english, but than... I observed that I don't have access to SD card anymore !!! This is for me enough reason to go back to the original ROM, which I made using the restore function of Dell software (I have made a backup of the original rom before upgrading). The problem is now: even with the original rom, my axim still don't see the sd card and, in addition, the operating system is very, very slow, also a new boot will take a very long time!!!
Please give me an advice on how do I have to proceed now to come back to the original state, or to solve otherway the problems!
