Question Former palm user to pocket pc user question (beaming applications)

Hi there,

I've been watching these forums for a few weeks now and I actually have a question that someone perhaps could answer for me.

I've been a palm (visor edge) user for about 3 years and purchased a new x30H about 3 weeks ago. So far I love it since for the most part the features gained are much higher than the features I've lost. One of the features I seem to have lost and have not found any software to replace with is an ability to beam, via IR or Bluetooth, an application to another user.

Moving contacts and data is not a problem but is there a way to send a friend an application. This would be a great way of giving people something like an ebook reader or a multiplayer game without having to go and re-download it.

The Palm pilot allowed easy beaming of applications but in those cases it was usually 1 big file while on the PPC its broken down into mulitple files.

Anyhow, I searched google and google groups as well as this forum and many like it, and have not found anyone to have asked this question or anything like it.

So, is there an application that lets people share programs easily?

Sending programs

The only way that I could think of a way to beam a program would be to have the .CAB file stored in memory, and then beam the .CAB file to someone else. Most programs have a CAB file. You can the .CAB file in a folder created by the program. For example, Handmark Monoply creates C:\program Files\Handmark\Monopoly for Pocket PC\Monopoly cabs and under that file you will find several CABS.

The big problem that you will run into is if someone has an older HPC, or Pocket PC, it may be using a different processor, and thus not able to use your files. That is most likely the reason why it is not simple to just beam a file like you could with your Palm.

Hope that makes at least a little sense. If not, I hope someone else here in the group can make it more clear...

Best of Luck!
