Axim X30 -> Drive

Hy,
is it possible to transfer data to the pda without using the syncronized folder of ActiveSync? I tought of a drive like a USB Stick.

And a second question:
It dont own a SD-Card (yet). If I bought one and then use the syncronized folder feature of active sync, how does AS/PDA decide whether the files go in internal memory or onto the SD-Card?

Thanks a lot for some answers

Card reader is your best bet. Copy to it and put it in the Axim.

If you have wifi access, I think you can do this with a program/plugin for the axim.

Hmmm, this would be cool. It would have to be a plug-in, as the Axim isn't recognized by Netbios as a networked PC device.

I can just drag files from the PC to the PPC's SD drive in explorer... I'm not waiting for AS to copy 100mb of flash files over... *g* I only use AS to copy files if I'll need them converted.

I hate to tell you, but when you are using the windows file explorer to copy over to your Axim, you are using Activesync. That is the only way that the pc has to communicate with the ppc.

There is a VERY easy option otherwise, if you do have wifi. Get something like resco explorer, and share a folder on the computer on the network. then map that drive on the axim. then go into the axim, and copy over via copy/paste. that does not use active sync

This is what I do. I map all my PC's shared network folders on my Axim, & I transfer data that way. Mainly I use this for copying over my latest Sprite backup file, but I also use it to copy .cab installer files to my Axim. This is a very good way to transfer files, and it does not use ActiveSync. You don't even need Resco Explorer, you can accomplish this using File Explorer.

Yes, I agree with both of you on this. I access my PC through my wireless network also, but it only one way. The Axim pulling files off the PC. The PC cannot access the Axim this way. If you want to explore the Axim from the PC, Activesync is the only way you can do it. Whether it is through the cradle or wi-fi, the PC can only access/explore the Axim through Activesync. This is what I was talking about before.
