Slow Internet

Pardon my novice-ness here. I am feeling pretty good that after getting my X30H on Monday, I have successfully paired my GPS (Acore 600 BT) and hooked up to my home wireless network...wooohooo.

One thing I have been dissappointed with, however is the internet surfing seems really slow. I finally figured out that I had to "allow cookies" to get logged onto some of my sites, but the rate of surfing is quite pokey...as in sometimes wait for 30 seconds or a minute before it pulls up a screen.

Is this typical for WIFI on a PPC...I be new at this...

Yeah, I'm a "newbie" also, less than two weeks with my X30.... same issue - slow internet. Sometimes if I poke the "follow link" arrows a few times in a row, the website responds... I've tried the recommended tweaks also without much success. I'm thinking it has something to do with 128 bit WEP encryption, maybe?

Have you turned off powersave in the WLAN utility? Also, users of some PPCs have found substantial improvements in connections after installing Chris De Herrera's RegKing and using it to increase the glyph cache and the TCP window size. I've never heard if this helps on the X30 but it may be worth a try.

I turned off powersave in the WLAN utility! That had the major change I was looking for. I also applied the registry hacks to increase the glyph cache and the TCP window size after the WLAN change was made and tested. Both had effect on the performance, but the WLAN powersave change was the most significant.
