Just Opened My Axim 30H!!
hey everybody, i just opened my Axim for my birthday. My gf bought it for me... i have to let it charge though. I was wondering, what should i do to it first? Since it's new, will i have to upgrade to A05?? anything else to install??? this site is great. helped me a lot through the waiting process. Had to call Dell twice just to get it in time.

If it was recently ordered, it probably already has the most recent ROM revision.

What you should do first is get yourself a good video/music player...like BetaPlayer

Congrats. I agree with psydstudent and get BetaPlayer. Also a few games wouldn't hurt, you never know when your gonna be bored, lol. As you play with it you will see what you need and don't need.

A third vote for BetaPlayer (can't beat it). Check out a previous thread about Astraware's FREE game giveaways. I've downloaded two of them to my x50v. Pretty good time wasters when you're bored. :approve:

I say you test out wireless and bluetooth connections before downloading third-party apps. That way it will be easier to diagnose problems. I'm doing that now. I'm testing out wireless now. I didn't have any problems setting it up and it seems to be working fine and that's saying something considering problems others have been having.

blah. i thought you opened your axim so we can see the guts and maybe some mods that you've done. i'm thinking of modding my toshiba e740....like a clear back case and maybe just taking the whole guts and placing it inside the e740's body.........

I just opened mine to
wow you know whats really wierd my girlfriend bought it for me to but it was for christmas i wanted to buy her one to but. But instead she got an extremely over priced lizard and now she regrets getting that thing and wants what I have ( Why does this kid have his christmas present already sort of a ritual in my family)I really hope you like it as much as I do.

I Just got My Axim X30 High Yesterday and I charged it overnight and I just LOVE IT!!!! :) I will most likely buy a bluetooth to usb adapter so I can swap data between my Work the Axim and Home. I know it will help me get fully organized and not to mention the coolness of being up on the latest trend to hit the world....

Forget BT...I bought a BT USB adapter to connect my Axim and laptop wirelessly...that is until I discovered WiFi Ad Hoc connections...no need for a router and you get the speed of WiFi. Since then, I cant remember the last time I used my BT adapter...

I use WiFi for almost everything. I sync wirelessly. I swap files wirelessly. I stream media to my Axim wirelessly. You name it.

I use BT if I'm busy downloading a HUGE file or streaming something big. It's noticably slower. I do use BT if I'm at a Hotspot and trying to sync data or transfer sensitve files. I don't want my personal info going over an unencrypted public network.

As for an "Ad Hoc" connection: I'm still trying to figure that one out. (It's always the "little", easy things that stump me). I can't seem to set up my NIC to do Ad Hoc.

chernggoh I'm having so much fun with my Axim X30h, too! I was able to connect with WiFi and I am now playing all my mp3s through it. I bring it with me in my car, and play it through my car's sound system. Really nice! My hubby is slightly jealous. ;) I can't help it, I'm in love! :love:

I moved all my Palm addresses to my contact list in Outlook, so that's working now.

Just thinking of what I'll install next. I am going through the list of apps that FallN had sent me. :approve:
