Protected WMF files

I have been trying to download audio books from my local public library. They are in a protected WMF format and can only be downloaded to my Axim by first downloading them to my desktop, then using Windows Media Player to sync with my Axim.

After much trial & error and consternation I finally got one audio book onto my Axim's 1 gig storage card. I wanted to download another audio book but WMP on my desktop is reporting that the storage card is full but when I check the Axim it shows about 150 megs free.

I have WMP 10 on my desktop and WMP 9 on the Axim. I don't know if that makes a difference.

I'm wondering if others have experience with protected WMF files and how to solve these issues.

Why cant you just copy the downloaded file onto your SD card using a card reader or activesync? Have you tried to do this?

Yup. Doesn't work. The DRM requires that the files by synced to the Axim (or any approved device) using WMP. It's cumbersome and awkward but these publishers want to make sure that they're work is not illegally shared. So they use this DRM service from Microsoft.
