Shouldn't Axim power-off after Reminder Alarm (on battery power)?

I'm noticing something today that may be normal, may not, but I'm just not sure. 99% of my workday my X30 is in my cradle at work. When a reminder alarm pops up it repeats until I dismiss it. Normal so far. Today, I'm home on vacation, Axim is undocked, alarm reminder goes off. I ignore it, thinking the Axim will power down after 1 minute, as I have it set to do. Maybe an hour goes by, I go to my Axim, and it is powered on (screen is dim) with the reminder alarm on the screen.

Shouldn't the Axim power down after a minute regardless? Why is this alarm reminder keeping the unit powered up, wasting the batery? On the cradle it is a non-issue, and with almost all of my alarms during "business hours" and during on-cradle time, I guess I've never really noticed this before.

This is on A03, using PI, Pocket Breeze, and SPB Pocket Plus, newest release.

Thanks for your help.

I'm using A05 and it happens to me too...I also have PI, PB, and SPB Pocket Plus but I'm not sure if it has anything to do with it or not...

I think it maybe because you are running off your back up and it needs to be charged

Heheh. The exact same thing used to happen with my old Handspring Visor Deluxe.

So, I got in the habit of turning all default alarms off and never setting alarms.

It's pretty ridiculous, but it doesn't surprise me at all.

Same problem here. In fact I noticed it yesterday for the first time as I grabbed my PDA after hours had gone and saw it was running and battery was already @ 15%

I think it's working exactly as it should. You've told the Axim that there's something important you need to be reminded about. It's going to keep reminding you until you acknowledge it, either dismiss or snooze. Think about how your bedside alarm clock works, and would you want it to just 'turn off' if you didn't wake up after 1 minute?

You would think though that it could shut off after a few minutes but make the power button continue to flash to remind you that the alarm hasn't been addressed...that would save a lot more power...
