Warranty Or No Warranty For Dell Axim X30H

Sup Axim crew. I just like to start off saying that this place seems to be one of the best Axim communities/sites around, and I'm happy as hell to be a member here :approve: . This is my first PPC, Axim, and post here, so I guess its time for me to get started.

So I recently just purchased a Dell Axim X30H off of Ebay for $200 in great condition(which was a steal) :hide: . Although system was barebones (no battery. charger. sync cable, etc) Again I purchased all this also on Ebay for around #35.00. So in total I spent around $235 for a Dell Axim X30H, which still was an amazing deal at (least for me) . All this seemed good, until I started to think about the long lasting appeal of this purchase. Even though I saved a bunch of cash on this Axim came with NO WARRANTY (which kinda sucks) !! Now I'm seriously concern about keeping this Axim damaged free, because I don't want to spend a bunch of cash (out of my pocket) getting it fixed.

So I would like some of your opinions on this issue . Is there a possible way for me to get a warranty by Dell on this Axim. Should I sell the Axim, and buy one with a warranty. Or should I shut the hell up, and be happy with what I have. What do YOU think ?! Thx in advance.. :approve:

If you buy a good aluminum case, you should automatically eliminate about 95% of the risk that could happen to your Axim. Your Axim MAY be warrantied...the X30 comes with a one year transferrable warranty, so the original owner can log into Dell.com and switch it to your name.

I haven't had any luck trying to extend warranties with Dell after the purchase. Seems foolish on their part.

Hmm, yea I probably do need to get some protection for my Axim, and a nice Aluminum case doesn't sound that bad . Do you have any that you could recommend ? I recently bought a single pack of Boxwave Cleartouch, and totally destroyed it (but thats another story, ). With this Axim having a warranty already, could be a possibility. The person I bought it from, I believe got a bundle of them refurbished without a warranty. He did say if anything went wrong he would give me "his warranty", and I emailed back (3days ago) about that and have yet to recieve a reply ... (I think I should nag him some more, don't ya think) ;) ?!

As for a good aluminum case get the Rhino case, really good and offers great protection.
My Rhino case shows many scars but my Axim has none...you can purchase them from this site.........

A Rhino Aluminum Case, hmm I probably pick up one next year. Does it hold the Axim pretty well, and can it take a few bumps an bangs. Also I'm looking for some decent screen protection. I have already seen a ton of post praising Boxwave's Cleartouch screen protectors, and I sure they are pretty awesome to the majority. Although I recently had a terrible experience with my Cleartouch AntiGlare, and I'm not sure is it worth buying again. So does anyone have any other recommendations ?!

As for the waranty, you can look it all up at Dell's site, and even transfer any remaining warranty to yourself... all you need are the service tag and express service codes that are in the batt compartment. If there's even a week left on the warranty, the new owner can get it.

I can vouch that the Rhino case can protect. I had mine on my belt and it acidently got knocked off in the parking lot. It slid about 10 ft.. I was sweating when I picked it up. But it powered up and is still working fine. The case had a few scratches but I rather see the case have the scratches than my Axim

Just remember though your mileage may vary.:approve:

i wonder if Dell would let you extend the warranty if you sent in your PDA so they could verify nothing is wrong and after that they could give you a choice of warranties to chose from? probably not but if you want to extend your warranty then that is what i think you should try to do, good luck with your axim :approve:

Warranty? I personally think if your x30 works fine right now, there isn't really any need for warranties. Most problem people have are generally easy to fix problems so... I guess some experts in this forum can easily aid you... Problems that you might want to grab DELL supports on the phone would most likly be accidental damage your x30 have... in which THEY WOULD NOT HELP YOU FIX UNLESS U HAVE THE ACCIDENTAL COVERAGE.

I am going for the Hard Case, and trying to be very careful with my x30...

thx, Thx, THX to all of you . I really appreciate all of your advice/, on this situation. I'm gonna spend some more time investigating the warranty on this item, and probably post some more updates here. Also I wonder do all Dell products come with a warranty. Anyways I'm going to definitely by one of those Rhino Cases, and I'm still not sure about buying another Cleartouch but I'll see. Anyways hhanks to all of you again :approve: !!

P.S. Oh yea, I'm not letting anyone off this imaginary hook
here.:rolling: If ya got anymore info on this subject, than
post it here !!

Hmm, I just checked under my battery, and I don't notice any service tag .. I see the model#/code#, but the service tag seems to be missing (I think) . So this kinda sucks, but
I'm not tooo surprised . Although I'm still e-mailing the person I bought it from, and nagging them until they respond . So anyway I also would like to know do you think the BoxWave Cleartouch Crystal, is better than the Cleartouch AntiGlare ?
