Dam new technology is expensive

Well i got a V710 motorola with verizon. Axim X30 and Moto HS-810 headset. Every thing is bluetooth enabled which is cool. I got really good deals on every thing except for when you add them all up its alot of $.

V710 $130
HS-810 $60
Axim X30 $250
Acessories $200
______________
Total 640

That can almost by a very good laptop i got my Dell 700m for about 700. I am a real deal seeker and i buy cheap i guess i just buy alot and things are just expensive =P

What i can do now is use the phone and connect via bluetooth to use the internet wirelessly any where. Of course it uses my mins but after 9 pm and weekends its free. With my bluetooth headset and phone i am able to make calls with my voice and decrease exposure to radation. With the headset and x30 i can hear mp3s and audio over my headset wirelessly which is also cool. But for $640 is it worth it?

Thanks

How do you decrease exposure to radiation?

If you're wearing the phone on your hip, then you're radiating your midsection and private parts without the benefit of a thick skull bone as protection (like when the phone is in your ear). Also, those folks who think it's better to use a hands-free earphone/mic setup are not only radiating their pelvic region, but also the wire to the earphone is just right to be an antenna and focus the phone's waves right into the ear.

I have a EE degree and have a EE professor friend that did a study on the effects of phones and other wireless technology on the body. He found that the phone industry handled research kinda like the tobacco companies did many years ago. Generally, they make sure that all published results are either positive or inconclusive.

I'm no alarmist and think cell phones are great, in moderation. These people spending 100's or 1000's of minutes on the phone per month will be good statistical data in the future years for any ill effects.

yeah, technology is expensive and what sucks about it the most is that its so hard to keep up with it because a newer version will pop up. they say almost every 3 years actually. but what sucks about it the most is when u buy stuff, and u dont make full use of its capacity. even with websites like these, i still feel lost. i dont think ill every be as techno savy as i wanna be.

Does it only go against your regular cell minutes? I just got a bluetooth phone for my daughter with Cingular hoping to be able to occasionally use my X50 to connect online. Mainly because I don't have anything else BT to use with my Axim :) But I had to purchase a Media package which includes 250 text/instant messages (which a 14 yr. old has no problem using) & something like 2mb of internet use. I have no idea nor can anyone @ Cingular tell me how much internet usage that equals. Somehow I have a feeling that I'll be seeing a $200 or $300 cell phone bill in the near future. :-(

I have a very similar question. i was just wonderingwhat service you have(original poster) and are you sure it jusr goes under minutes? I have att/cingular and think using my minutes for tethering would be great! i probably should just call my provider! lol

I have had a celly in my pocket for the last 7 years or so. And we are 34 weeks pregnant. My swimmers are just fine. If it makes you feel better, I sincerely recommend wrapping your head with aluminum foil.

It probably won't stop the radiation, but it sure would brighten everyone else's day! ;)
