wifi drop and keep on scaning until disable and re-enabled...

My Axim X30H has this problem when the unit will continue scaning for wifi networks on channel 4.

unless you disable and enable it again. looks like it does the REAL scanning work in the first few seconds after it's enabled.

after that it just stops scanning? but the icon on the tool bar does indicate it is scanning.

also the icon sometimes go missing when wifi is enabled. again this can also be corrected after a restart of wifi.

anyone else having the same problem?

Do you have the A05 ROM update? Although it caused some issues with WMP 10 (if people attempted more than a PIM restore, such as a complete back-up), it was a significant update for wi-fi as well.

And the traditional but true question: did you disable power management with Wi-fi?

Ikehiker is the wi-fi guru here. If you can't figure it out after these two items, read the wi-fi guide on the front of Aximsite...

http://wifi.aximsite.com/

and then contact IkeHiker through PM if the problem still exists.

That happens to me often. I just think the X30's WiFi is a bit "glitchy" but what model's isn't.

Just force it to reconnect like I do or turn on and off WiFi and it'll find your AP again.

really? even if you turn it on and off it still cant find the correct channel?

if this is the case, which I did experience once before. I would recommend you to upgrade to ROM A05. then reset your Wifi router.

make sure power management is off and make sure your battery life is green.

you can do a soft or hard reset on your axim. also check on you router for channel settings. if you are using manual channel, try to change to different channels. or use turn on auto-select channel on your router.

I know the above methods worked for me. Even there is no way to solve the wifi reset thing. but turning it on and off is the only work around. to search for Wifi ap I use WifiFoFum

try this.....

Iwas having a similar problem while surfing at school. So I gave the odessy client a try, and it worked great! I then tried it at work, which has some version of a D-link router thata I could NEVER sign on to. And again it worked greatly! Give the client a try.

i used to have power management switched on and had no problem.... but i think after the ROM upgrade I must have it off or the connection will go nowhere...

anyone know what it actually does?

I have A05 and have the same problem at times. It gets "stuck" searching for channel 4 and can't seem to find my wireless router which is on channel 6 . The only solution I've found is to disable and re-enable the wi-fi adapter. I guess I could probably use Odyssey, but my workaround seems good enough.

--yes it WILL work after a hard reset. that's not a solution for ongoing wi-fi use.

--well isn't that the answer then? use a 3rd party pgm?
