Adding movies to the SD card - wmv and avi files wont copy across
Ive tried to copy a 128mb movie onto my X30 SD card, as it is copying through the active sync software it gets to about half way and then the copying restarts from the begining. Other files copy across fine, i have also tried to zip the movie and then copy it this works fine.
Iam using a 1gb card
Does anyone have any ideas.
Thanks

Well, one thing to remember with that is that 128 mb cards don't hold exactly 128 mb. At least I think. I'm pretty sure some of that space is being used by the card itself for... stuff it has to do. It's possible the movie just won't fit on the card.

Oh... well then... uhh....
Maybe try getting the movie in a different format and then copying it to your card?
Besides that, I have no idea what could help.
Side Question: Do you transfer files to your card through your axim or through a card reader?

Through the x30, a card writer is my next option

I like using a card writer myself, it gets much better transfer speeds than just through the axim. I don't know if a card reader would solve your problem, but it would help you in the long run with just transferring files. And it gives you another accessory for your computer.
I like computer accessories. A lot.

Try asking the people on the storage card forums. They might know something about your problem.

Go with the card reader. It's faster. And it's faster. Specially when transferring large files.

I had the exact same problem. I could not transfer a 300 MB copy of the Bourne Supremacy to my 1G Lexar SD card through activesync. I gave up after about a half dozen failures and bought myself a card reader/writer, which works like a charm.

I've had that happen before, but it finally did it's job. I ended up getting a cheap card reader, though - 10 X faster than active sync at least.

I have that problem whenever I transfer a big file to my 1GB SD card on my Axim X30H. I finally got the problem solved by using Winrar and splitting the file to bunch of 1.4MB rar files. It appears it has no problems transferring small files over.
But its very time consuming... first you have to split the files by compressing the video, transfer over to the SD card, then extract it in your axim... It gets annoying if you know what i mean.

I had this problem too, but it really wasnt starting over, just looked that way. It finally finished.
I figured this out, by bringing up the memory screen for my SD Card and saw the used space was continuing to climb even though the scroll bar kept restarting in the ActiveSync copy.

2 words..activesync sux! for transfering big files..anything bigger than 30 MB...dont bother..it will either timeout and u will have to do soft reset on ur pda and start all over. even if it was successful...it would take about like 30 min to transfer over 100 MB of file thru activesync which would only takes a few minutes if u using a card reader.
