Newbe needs help
Hi all. Just joined and forum looks great. Here's my question. I have an Axim 3i and am trying to search for printer drivers so that I can print from my Axim. In the office we have a Dell 1700 and a Dell Laser Printer W5300 that I would like to be able to use. Is this possible ?
Thks
Jim

Hey Jim,
I think this will help you out. It is HPs mobile printing, but it works with most printers and it is free and regularly updates.

Adrian,
I checked out the link and downloaded the software, but there were no Dell printers listed; just HP, Epson, and Canon. Right now no help. Any other ideas ?

Adrian -> Here is a chuckle for you. I emailed Dell Tech Support just to see what sort of response I would receive regarding printer drivers to enable a DELL Axim 3i to print to a DELL printer. Below is part of the email response:
************************************************** **********************
We would be able to print from an Axim X3 to a printer directly, if and
only if there is a BlueTooth card installed in the handheld Axim device.
There is another work around. You would have to transfer the files to be
printed to the laptop, or any other available system, from where you
could Print the document further.
I apologize, but we would not be able to fulfill your request of
printing any document directly from an Axim to the printer due to
technology restrictions.
************************************************** *******************
Tks
Jim

Nice to see that they know exactly what they are talking about .
Maybe ask the guys at HP if they can add that printer to thier printing program? Maybe don't tell them you are using a Dell PDA though :) They might tell you how to set it up with non-listed printers??? It would be interesting to know.
Cheers
Adrian

CapFusion -> Very Interesting. The Dell 1700N was ordered/purchased for the office about 2 weeks ago and so far is working very well.
Tks

I checked out the Lexmark web site for printer drivers, but I did not see any printer drivers for mobile units(PPC or PDA). Am I missing something ?
I did see the Lexmark E330 series link for printer driver download, but that would be only for desktop pc's, not PPC's or PDA's, right ?
