I got a X30 High as an upgrade to my old X3i. The screen is nowhere near as clear and responsive as my X3i. The contrast is messed up making for blurry print. If I tilt it away from perpendicular from me the letters blurr and some appear to turn slightly red. There was no comparison in clarity to the X3i screen. You can tilt the X3i any way and the clarity barely degrades.
I called Dell and got a replacement X30 High. Same problem. If I have it sitting on my desk I have to hover right over top of it to maintain its already poor clarity. The funny thing is that it gets brighter and clearer if I tilt the top towards me.
I called Dell again. The guy had his own X3i and pulled an X30 out and did his own comparison. No contest - the X3i has better clarity and little degradation when tilted. I asked him to pull out a non-VGA X50. SAME PROBLEM. The X3i screen is far superior.
I am very dissapointed. Aside from getting the VGA X50, I am SOL with Dell. I guess I could go back to the X3i.
