I am new here, i got my x30 med range yesterday and am VERY impressed.
I had a palm m130 before hand an yuk to that ;). It died wednesday with battery problems. I brought the x30 off expansys that evening and it came friday morning and it was charged and ready to go by 7pm :D. Battery life is excellent, had about 2.5 hours total play with it, 1 and half hours on wifi mode (bluetooth turned off) and the rest exploring. Was only down 40%!
So i have just brought a 512Mb Kingston SD Card off ebay to help with the document storage issue (not an issue, but could be) and need some apps to start playing with. Thing is i am broke now, i am a 18yr old student who is now penniless (accept for £5 in coppers)
So what free apps are there out there to fiddle with. I want some utilities here is the list of things i want to do:
Small Battery indicator on the top bar
PDF Reader [needed]
Ebook Reader [not 100% needed as i cant affort ebooks]
And any other widgets (including cool themes!)
I have visualbasic .net and the SDK installed so i might be able to program my own software to do the battery thing, i just want a small pixel battery verticall with 3 bars indicating full (3 bars), 75% (2 bars), 50% (1 bar), 25% (no bar)
Hi pittuck - I have extracted all the freeware from FreewarePPC.com and sorted them by rating. This will give you an idea of which freeware programs are highly regarded by the PocketPC community: http://jonaquino.blogspot.com/2004/1...acted-and.html
For the battery bar, you could use magic button (google on that, and you'll find). Also useful for really closing apps (default, they just minimize, taking up memory). You can get a PDF reader for PocketPC at adobe.com.
And yes, you can install on an SD card.
www.mcdeb.com is a great place for free today themes.
Welcome to Aximsite.

I would also like to welcome you to the site and I wish to tell you to check what rom you are running, to do this click start, settings, system tab, system information, If it is older than A05, get a05, especially if you want to use wifi (you get longer battery life with a05 than the older roms)there are also a lot of sharewear programs I would like to reccomend: wisbar advance 2, memmaid, resco file explorer, Morphgear (an awesome emulator of NES GB, GBC, GBA, SNES, Sega master system/gamegear, Genisis)Pocket mechanic. these are what i tried as sharewear and purchased later(they are awesome programs). Once again, welcome to aximsite and ENJOY your new AX.
Welcome :) One note on installing to SD (or built-in storage): some programs recommend you do not do this because of speed issues (Cal+, etc.) Others will not work from anywhere except main storage (AirScanner, etc.) So if you install an app and things go awry, try uninstalling it then reinstalling to main. Probably 95% of my apps are in built-in storage, 5% in main, and I keep my data on the SD. Also, I recommend doing a backup before any install. It saved me yesterday when AirScanner killed my ability to see built-in storage. I had to uninstall it, kill it's registry settings, hard reset then restore from backup.
Happy installing!
sorry, i am typing on the ax's soft keyboard, it is a typo. when you get your sd card it will work out of the package but you will get better preformance after it is formatted using pocket mechanic.
