Worried Pocket Mechanic

Based on several recommendations from the site, I downloaded a trial of Pocket Mechanic. I noticed that there are several features for cleaning memory and registry files built in. Most use the program for benchmarking SD cards and I'm wondering about opinions on these other options. Has anyone used these options and what are your opinions of these options versus Memmaid?

Thanks

Pocket Mecahnic

I've used Pocket Mechanic and it performs all the cleaning functions reliably & safely, on my device, including registry maintenance. Card testing is nice to have, but reliable maintentance tool is critical. I looked at MemMaid features, and thought that it included too many items that I would have no use for. I give Pocket Mechanic five stars.

They are both excellent utilities but do somewhat different things. I also have SK Tools which is more comprehensive than either.

good to know that the product is well regarded. Now, is there any recommendations as to what NOT to delete? I don't want to delete some registry info and end up with my axim acting like had a lobotomy.

I consider pocket mechanic the best investment for my axim. Why?
Well, I bought my axim x30 high last October and since then tried several apps and installed what I repute the "must" ones. At the end, the system was a bit messy and needed an hard reset or....a registry cleanup. Since I'm very lazy I tried the pocket mechanic option with really great satisfaction.
I have tom tom 3, ksetruefax, skype, gsplayer and so on, but the most stable, the most reliable is always pocket mechanic.
Take it, it will not let you down.

Yes, don't delete any items in the notification queue that are not duplicates I did that, and couldn't figure out why it wouldn't sync with my PC. Turns out I deleted a critical notificaiton that was responsible for establishing a connection with the PC. Other than that, I believe you'll be safe deleting what PM finds as far as registry items to be cleaned.

Wooch,

I've got several bad com registrations, bad uninstall info, CAB file entries, and links to missing CAB files. No notifications. these are all safe to delete?

sorry if I sound a bit paranoid, it's just that I'm addicted to my Ax and I don't want to give it that lobotomy!

Yes, you can delete anything that the registry cleaner finds. I actually run PM's registry cleaner after installing a new app, it finds 2 entries after each app is installed. Just don't go in and manually delete notifications in the Notification queue cleaner. Since I upgraded to the latest WM 2003 ROM version on my X3i, it's not found any duplicate notifications, so I don't even run it any more. But yes, removing anything the registry cleaner finds is safe (I've never personally had any mishaps occur from deleting registry entries using PM)

Have at it! :approve:

WOW! Deleting those registry files seems to have gotten a bit more speed out of my Ax when opening programs and during a soft reset.

Thanks Guys and Gals!

I have tried three times now over the past week to download the trial. But it wont download. Is there a limit of how many trials you can download. I have tried pocketgear as well as other sites. No luck can someone tell me what I am doing wrong...Its starting to make me want to throw my computer out the window. :throwcomp
