ActiveSync recognizes only as guest

Hi,

I have started synchronizing my X30 in 2 PCs (home+office) and I get problems at home. When I put X30 in craddle it does not recognize my device but it registers as guest all the time.

Do you have any suggestion about how to solve this problem?

Welcome to Aximsite!

A few things to try:

1. Delete current partnership on home PC. (When Axim is not connected, click on File - Delete Partnership.). Try resyncing to re-establish connection.

2. Uninstall then reinstall ActiveSync. You may want to try the latest version 3.8 from the Microsoft website.

3. If all else fails, a hard reset may be necessary.

Hi,

I tried the first 2 options you suggested and unfortunately I still have the same problem. It s quite funny that after deleting and creating the new partnership it works fine. then when i unplug the axim and i plug it back, then it does not recognize my device.

So, I guess it is time to backup and do the hard reset.

Sorry that the first two options did not work for you. The same thing happened to me a few times and only once did I have to do a hard reset. Be aware, however, that if you restore immediately after the hard reset, you may restore back the problem. I would try to sync without the restore to see if it works first.

Thanks Gigi, once more.

I did the hard reset and still does the same. First time I create the partnership works fine, but next time I plug the device will not recognize it, so it will connect as guest all teh time.

I dont really know what it could be, if it is related with the ID of the device.

Any help or suggestion??

This happened to me many years ago before I had my Axim.

I found that my PPC had to be plugged into a USB port on the PC and not through my USB hub.

Once my PPC was plugged into one of the USB ports on the Desktop PC's mainboard, everything was fine. I hope this works for you.
