Should I add these programs to main memory or an SD card?
Newbie question: I am going to add some medical programs to my Axim, should I put them in the main memory or on an SD card and why?
TIA for any feedback.
it depends on u I normal install all my programs to sd card the only program I have installed on main memory is tomtom, but even with that the maps are on the SD.
I dont knw if theres any performance increase in installing on main memory, maybe a slight speed increase in accessing the program.

i install everything (except today plugins) on the memory card. windows mobile likes plenty of free memory, so you are better off installing everything you can on the memory card. i have never used built-in storage for software installation, but everything i have read about the subject suggests that running programs from built-in storage is much slower than running from the memory card
I usually try and install programs to a memory card if I can. Like it was said before this frees up the memory on your Axim. As far as BIS (built in storage) I have several things installed there and they run fine. If it is slower, it is so little that I can't even tell. So I would recomend trying the memory card first.
Also as previously stated, all today screen plug ins should be installed to main memory for them to work right. Good Luck~

I'll be different here. I always install programs in "Built-in Storage" which is the built in Flash memory. That way it doesn't suck up your main memory, which is also program RAM, and you can swap out SD cards without losing access to your programs.
Unless Software specifically tell you to install to main memory you can install to BIS (my preference) or the SD/CF card. The problem with the card is you need it in to access the program.

Ask yourself if you want to be able to run that program regardless of what card you have in your PDA. If yes, go to main or BIS. If not, dump it on a card.
I would definately try to put them on a SD card if the medical applications you are installing will support it. I use a lot of medical/pharmacy programs (Epocrates, lexicomp Suite, Micromedix ,etc...)and had a similar question when I started adding them to my X50. Most of the medical Apps have huge databases of information that take up a ton of memory. If you have a large capacity SD card you shouldn't have any problems, but putting these in BIS or Main will kill any memory you have left. You'll find some of these Apps will only work in BIS or main memory (Free Epocrates version for example). I have a 1GB SD card and try to put everything I can on it. I really don't have to worry about swapping cards because I have the extra CF slot on the X50. Anyway...Just be aware that most of these programs are huge and will probably take up a lot of your free memory.
anything i really need i install on the main memory, adobe PDF Viewer is installed on the built-in because its A) large and B) was giving errors when i put my axim into suspended mode and came back on. Also any programs which have problems when u turn ur using off then back on i put on the built-in just to check it thats the problem.
