X30 Display

does anyone know how to shut the display off but keep the unit running when on battery power. I use my Axim to as a mp3 player during the day, so I'm looking to conserve battery power. I have gone through all the settings but can't find anything.

I believe the free GSPLayer has a "screen off" function that you can use. I'd check that out. I'm sure some of the other pay-for players have that same option.

As far as I know, you can only dim the display after a set period of time. The display will still be running, but the "backlight" is not on, so it is very hard to see.

You can do this through the brightness settings under the settings menu.

I don't know of a way to actually turn the display completely off - but I may be wrong.

Hold the power button down for about two seconds. The backlight goes out, but the X30 stays on.

Do you mean turn off the backlight, or the actual display?

To turn off backlight hold powerbutton... to turn off lcd use the toggle screen button in WMP, both leave the axim running

i'd like to shut the display off (not the backlight) while using windows media player. I tried the toggle switch, but that just changes the screen rotation. I'm not sure if I need to have that programmed to do something else in order for that button to shut the display off. I know some MP3 players will do it, but I actually use my axim to listen to web radio that won't work on my PC (not sure why it doesnt work on my PC). So I'm forced to sue windows media player.

Thanks for all your help everyone.

i mis understand the toggle button reply........I'm not sure where the WMP toggle button is located. Is it the button in the upper right hand corner? While I'm playing the radio station I listen to that button doesn't seem to do anything.

in wmp go to menu->options->buttons->scroll down until you find "toggle screen", then double tap it and select a button you want to use to turn the screen off. in wmp10 you can only program buttons to the d-pad and scrollwheel.
