Anyway to switch the display off while listening to mp3?

Is there anyway to have my display switch off while I listen to my mp3? My old Sony Clie has that function and it helps to conserve battery usage.

Just press and hold down your power button and your screen will dim. To turn the backlight back on, press and hold again. Alternatively, you can also go into your Brightness settings and check "Dim if device is idle for more than X minutes." Some apps also have this feature built-in. Check settings.

Depending on what program you are using to listen to MP3s there is usually an option in the program setting to toggle display on and off. It is usually in the hardware buttons mapping section.

Tell us what program you are using and we can be more specific :)

Cheers

I have been using the brightness setting and set it to dim after 15 sec but the display will still be on. The GSplayer looks good. Have downloaded and will install on my axim tommorrow. Thanks.

I am wondering if GSplayer has the function of mapping your buttons to its function buttons (play, fastforward..etc). That will be cool as I don't even have to open my case to change to the next track.

I never try this but there is a a button tab under Tools > Options where you will be able to map buttons to GSPlayer functions.

You sure can.! The Buttons even work when the display is off. Jogdial also works as a Volume +/- dial

Frenchy, that's exactly where to program the buttons.

Windows Media Player also has a button setting to toggle the screen.
It should turn off not only the backlight, but also the LCD and (maybe) the GPU.

The problem I have with WM10 is that you need Windows XP on your desktop to get proper music list done. You cannot have songs more than once in your list. I have a few song I like to listen too more often than every 12 hours. I switched to GSPlayer and it does eveyting I need.

Plus you can use GSPlayer for listening to shoutcast stations. I love this program.
