PDA Anti Virus Software?

Hi All,
still getting used to using such a good PDA and just wanted to know a couple of things about keeping it protected. Can anyone recommend a good "Anti Virus" software package that will help look after the pda for me and also are there any on Shareware or freeware sites I can use until I can get a hold of a good package? any help will be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks.

Dave

Welcome to the site. From what I read on the forums most people don't worry too much about virus protection on their ppc.I have never heard of anyone getting a virus but that's now,who knows what the future brings.Do a ppc virus search on Google and see what pops up.

At this point no virus protection is needed so far. One virus came out about a year ago but this is it. Just make sure that you check files with the AV of your PC before moving or installing to the PPC. At www.download.com they have a free AV named AirScanner (free). I hope this helps. BTW Welcome to Aximsite. :approve:

I don't think an antivirus would be very useful for a PPC. Apart from taking some valuable resource, it's not really needed. I install a lot of freeware / shareware / demos, and so far have never reported any unwanted adware / spyware / virus.

(I check everything first with my xP antivirus first though - I'm using the free AVG AntiVirus by Grisoft)

Good Points here, I will ensure I check everything on the PC before I send it across to the PDA, Never a bad thing to check stuff out like this. There are plenty of folks out there who enjoy nothing more than screwing up our hard earned equipment for a bit of fun.
Thank Again

Yes that's true... I'm sure we will soon (WM2005 ??) be experiencing the same mess on the PPC world as on PC, so let's enjoy the golden age while it's virus/trojan/spyware/adware-free !!!

I would not worry about any anti-virus protection on the Axim

Another newbie here... I also got the McAfee and so far it's just a memory hog. So if I'm reading it right I can remove the program without any adverse effect, right?

I wouldn't worry about anti-virus at this stage. But it's bound to be a requirement eventually.
