Video Play On x30?

Hello,

I'm new to the site and a new Axim user. Love it, but can't seem to get video files (.avi) to play. They synch just fine, but when clicked on, I'm prompted to open an application (I have WMP) and open the video file within the application.

Also, are there any freeware programs for stocks?

Thanks,

Chris

Use Windows Movie Maker (comes with Windows XP) to convert your files to Windows Media Format. Make sure to choose the option that optimizes the video for the PocketPC.

betaplayer
pocketdivx

the former is installed on pda, while the latter lets you encode .mpg into divx
and betaplayer supports .mpg now, but not suggested to play on-demand (pretty slow) over wifi

PocketTV plays MPG files quite handily. And it's free. :approve:

I've had success taking broadcast TV video recorded on my computer, converting it to MPG with settings appropriate for the Pocket PC, transferring the file, and playing it back full-screen on my Axim X30 high. The video is of good quality and playback is smooth. It's cool.

Storage space is a factor for longer programs ... A 30-minute TV show uses about 75 megs of memory on my storage card (which fortunately holds 512 megs).

dont convert to windows media format (crappy and a waste of time), JUST DOWNLOAD BETAPLAYER and you can play any video file.

Thanks for the feedback.
Checked out the BetaPlayer site.
Lots of download options.

Before I start downloading, do I need them all? Just one? I'd like a player that can play a variety of file types.

Thanks,

Chris

Teacher becomes student.
I teach ninth graders (science, not PDA's, obviously).
This is great!

OK, I've downloaded the zip file to my desktop. Do I "open" the file? "Extract" the file?

Thanks for the help.
