Exclamation SD card read error - emergency

I have an X30 and I use a 512MD Sandisk AX0408WV China SD card for business. I have plenty of e-mail attachments, files & my timesheets on it. I had some pictures stored on it (approx 30MB) and deleted them yesterday through an SD card reader on my PC. Now, after letting the card sit in my Axim overnight, I am receiving card read errors. I cannot open certain files, yet certain files I can. The errors I receive say that the files are in an invalid format or that the end of the file was not found. When I try to put the card in my PC, it requests that the card be formatted. Needless to say, I cannot do that. I must recover my files from the card. (Boy, this is going to cost me a lot of money) I do have several Axim backups, however, I'm not sure if the card also gets backed up in the process. Is there a way to fix the card or to get the files from it? Needless to say, I'm going to have to be more diligent with backing up my axim and cards in the future. I am also going to contact Dell and Sandisk. Thanks.

Do a soft reset with the card out , reinsert and try to read again. You can also try to soft reset with the card in if first option doesn't work.

Sorry Frenchy. That didn't work. Thanks for the help though.

Any other ideas?

I chatted with Dell and the rep said that there was nothing that they could do. I have an email into SanDisk and have tried calling their support line -> closed for the day. :( SanDisk has a goofy recovery tool that they supply on a demo basis. no luck with it. i'm currently going through other file recovery programs.

Does anyone know of a good program?

Dell maybe right the only alternative left is to reformat. This remind me, I will backup mine tonight. Sorry it didn't work. Do you have other software like memaid to try to view the card content.

memaid? no, i've never heard of it. where can i check it out?

I have tried SanDisk's RescuePRO and FileRecoveryTool's File Recovery for SD. SanDisk's didn't even really read the card. the other is at least scanning the whole card sector by sector. Not sure of the outcome yet.

Just be careful everyone. Card fine one day and all screwed up the next for no reason.

I was able to get into all of the files I needed and see the text contents, but nothing of any other format, using a hex editor running on my x30. It allowed me to get enough info to get on with my life. However, I am still searching for a method to fix the card and recover the original files, but its not a huge priority. Thanks.
