Palm user -> PPC user: Howto txfer data?

What is the best way to transfer all my data from my palm to my ppc?

(If this is a heavily covered subject, please point me to the proper threads)

I'll be receiving my Axim x30h any day now and want to be able to get up and running as fast as possible. I am a long time Palm Pilot user and I have no experience with PPC so I'm lost.

Should I transfer from the Palm Pilot device to the Axim device directly or should I tranfer from the Palm Desktop to the Axim sync software?

1. The main concern is that I want to keep all my date book history and transfer it to the Axim. (Outlook?)

2. Address book data tranferred to PPC. (Outlook?)

3. Todo List, aka Task List (Outlook?)

4. etc.

Thanks,

Ed

Sync your Palm with outlook instead of palm desktop, the palm software cd should allow you to do this... Then sync outlook with your axim. Worked like a charm for me

Yes, if only I had my palm software cd.....

I looked through my Palm Desktop software and found nothing to switch it to Outlook. (no surprise)

Hmmmmm....

Maybe you should use Pocket Mirror conduits to synchronize with Outlook.
You can find it on their web site www.chapura.com

The palm software you need is the stuff that came on your cd... howver there is a way to do it without it. You will have to use the search tool in aximsite to find it though.......

I just faced the same, it works like this:

My Dell Axim X30 High came with a CD with, amongsth other things, Outlook 2002 on it. Install that before anything else. Then change your HotSync settings to sync with Outlook instead of the palm desktop, then do a sync.

Once done, install the rest of your Dell stuff (Active Sync) and when you synchronise your Dell all your Outlook stuff (contacts, appointments etc) will synchronise over to your Dell Axim.

Whew! Finally got it!

At least I got it all working at home. At work I'll have to work it too, but I think I have it figured out now.

It was just like everyone said: "Download the Palm SW, select Outlook as the PIM, follow the onscreen directions".

At work this didn't work because of the 2738 error.

At home everything was smoothly. Now the Axim has all my palm data and all I have to do is bring it to work and sync it with my Outlook there...Then I'll be set.

Now I have to figure out the WiFi issues...

Thanks again,

Ed

This is what I would do.

1. Sign up for a Yahoo account if you already don't have one.
2. Login to http://calendar.yahoo.com/ and click on the sync link on the bottom right.
3. Download Intellisync for Yahoo! (this will sync your addresses and appointments with the Yahoo calendar)
4. Sync with Yahoo.
5. Login to your address book at Yahoo!, http://address.yahoo.com, and look for the Import/Export link on the bottom right.
6. Then just choose the Outlook option and export the addresses.
7. Open up Outlook and select File > Import and Export...
8. Follow the wizard to import your contacts

Very cool. I've already gotten the sync all figured out, but the online calendar is something I'll check out.

Thanks,

Ed
