Reset - Lost all - How do I resync

I saw my axim freeze today, so I pressed the reset switch on the back. When I did all the memory was erased except for the storage card.

How can I save myself some grief and sync back the stuff without erasing the data on the PC? Also, will I need to reinstall all apps or will the sync put them back?

Did you backup your axim before it froze? If so, use the restore function in activesync to restore the image back onto the pda.

If you haven't backed up, you'll need to start over and create a new partnership with activesync (If you want to use the same device ID you must first delete the old partnership). Once this is done it will automatically sync all of you PIM data, but you will have to reinstall all of your 3rd party apps.

If nothing else you'll get a fresh start.

NExt time put your downloaded programs into BIS ( Built in Storage).I only have my today screen programs in Main Storage. that way you will not lose them. I put all files, vids, mp3,and docs on SD card.

i think johnomalley probably just came over to ppc from palm :) and i can just see him saying DARN MICROSOFT! WHY CANT IT RESYNC (cuz i know i said that myself)

anyway, there's a built in backup program on the ppc. here's what i did, i install everything that i needed either to BIS/SD card then I soft-reset then install the stuff that needed to be on Main (which was really only pocket plus). After that I tinker with all the settings and got my today screen to what i want it to be THEN i did a backup straight to the sd card you can probably do it to BIS if you want though. :)

Thanks everyone for the help. I had a backup from 15 days ago. I restored and only lost a few things. I will reinstall and do a new backup.

Incidentally, I did just come over from the Palm community. :)

Thanks again!

HA! I knew it! My bro and I just got into the PPC community about 1 month back. We were both beating our heads trying to figure out why A/S wont re-sync my old stuff after we got Hard-Resetted... :)

Anyway, once you reinstall everything and tinker it to the way u want it, I suggest you soft reset then do a backup. Since I dont plan on installing any other programs I am all set with just one backup till the next time I decide to test out something new.
