Convert iTunes Playlist to GSPlayer Playlist

Okay.... I thought this would be REALLY simple. The problem is just this:

I have a PC that holds all my music. I want to add all this music to a playlist in GSPlayer. As far as I can tell, you cannot add entire directories in GSPlayer, let alone browse to network directories.

So, I thought i would pull from iTunes. I have all my playlists setup perfectly in iTunes. But iTunes only exports to XML. So I found several programs that will take an iTunes XML and export to an M3U playlist. So then I tried loading this m3u in GSPlayer (since it does not take XML), and it loaded nothing!

How can I get my iTunes playlists on to GSPlayer??

I am lost.... help is appreciated :)

Hmm, try my Playlist Editor linked in my profile. If it doesn't help you, send me a sample of the xml format playlist (wait.. I have iTunes, I'll look too.)

My playlist editor supports PLS and M3U which are understood by gsplayer. It also supports ASX for WMP10.

Let me know if it works for you.

As I reread your initial post, there might be more than just a playlist problem here. The first problem is that of what format is your music in? If its in the itunes default format (AAC) (it'd be this if you bought it over iTunes, or ripped it under iTunes as AAC) you can't play it under GSPlayer. I believe BetaPlayer however does support AAC as long as its not protected (i.e. Bought from the iTunes music store.)

If your music is all MP3s, the next question is how do you see it on your pocket pc? If you mapped the \Network folder to a network share that contains your music, I'd think that my Playlist Editor would work, but I've never tried this. See if you can import that directory through Playlist Editor (Edit->Import) .

Let me know how this works for you.

ok I figured out what the converters were doing wrong....

instead of //pc/directory to represent a file over a network, they were doig it as /pc/dir or even \pc\dir !! So I did a find/replace type deal and got that fixed. I will try out yours right now and see if it works.

Ah ok, I don't think my editor will work very well with the //server type network browsing. I can add that to my list of future things to play with.

Glad you got it to work.
