Rename Bluetooth Service

I am looking for a way to rename the Bluetooth Serial Port service. Here's the problem:

Hardware:
Axim X30 and Metrologic MS9535 VoyagerBT Barcode scanner

- Bought a bluetooth barcode scanner
- Followed directions to connect it to bluetooth device(Client Mode)
- Didn't work
- Followed directions to connect it to bluetooth device(Server Mode)
- Works, but always drops connection and asks to be reconnected
- Tried connecting to PC using USB->Bluetooth dongle
- Didn't work
- Called scanner tech support and they sent document saying that the "Service Name" in the "Local Services" tab of the "Bluetooth Advanced Configuration" window needs to say "Bluetooth" not "Bluetooth Serial Port" :rolling:
- Changed setting and everything works fine (on the PC)
- I figure, OK, I'll just change that setting on my Axim, but that option isn't available.

Any ideas? Is there a registry tweak that I can do?

I just figured out what to do. Here's the steps for posterity's sake:

- Download and run the mobile registry editor:

- Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WIDCOMM\BtConfig\Servi ces
- On my machine there are 4 subkeys named 0001 - 0004
- Change the value of the "Name" string in "0001" from "Bluetooth Serial Port" to "Bluetooth"

It all works now!!!! :approve: :approve:
