After I updated to A06, I re-installed all of my apps from scratch. Like the poster above, I noticed about a 50% reduction in battery life. This was even after setting brightness to minimum and disabling IR receive. I also couldn't see the current CPU speed unless I actually changed the setting. I've since reverted back to A05 and now the battery life is back to normal.

It is not hard to restore to A05.
When you are running the A06 installer you will be asked to backup your A05 rom. DO THIS!!!
To turn back to A05, run the A06 installer en select restore, then select your saved A05 rom.
Of course when you restore your A05 rom, it will be in factory state, all your programs en stuff are gone.
I think the power problem, is a conflict between the Dell A06 en the backup i have made. Maybe a clean install of the software will solve the problem.

I did a clean install, and also saw the power drain others mentioned above.

spacebum,
Do you have a extended battery?
If you have one, did you a complete discharge, to re-adjust the power level meter.

No, I just have a standard battery. Now that I'm back on A05, my battery power levels are as they were before I installed A06. It's definitely a puzzle, because the list of fixes/features in the update wouldn't seem to indicate why there would be such a dramatic shift in power consumption.

I have not seen any difference in power consumption on my device between A05 and A06...I think its all in your heads
Make sure you have disabled all the "Turn on device in suspend mode" options to prevent the device from "accidentally" turning on when a button is pressed.

Wow, this is disturbing. 99.9% of the people that commented about battery life have experienced a serious drain on thier battery after the upgrade.
Now I'm REALLY scared of the upgrade. I'm not going to play God with my Axim. One little misstep and BAM I've got a REALLY expenisve brick on my hands... so I think I'm going to pass this upgrade on by.
Good luck to those that do upgrade. May the force (and battery life) be with you. ;)

I've been playing with the A06 upgrade for a couple of days, and I think I've found the source of the battery drain problem.
- Go into Settings > System > Power > Processor
- set processor speed to "Auto"
- tap "Apply"
- read "Current Speed:" it stays at 624 MHz
Even when I'm not doing anything else with the device, the processor speed does not automatically scale down. This would explain everyone's battery drain - it has nothing to do with wireless or Odyssey, but is due to the fact that the processor stays on top speed at all times.
Screw this, I'm restoring back to A05 - and starting a new thread to see if others can confirm this condition.

the mhz problem sounds like a likely culprit to everyone's battery problem. I haven't noticed a huge battery drain difference after I upgraded when wifi was off. And I'm also using xcpuscalar so that might explain it. good luck to those who are having trouble!

I'm an idiot. I unplugged my sync cable, went into the Power settings applet, and saw that the "Auto" CPU speed setting dropped my speed down to 208 MHz. It had only "stuck" on 624 because the device was plugged in
Sorry people, false alarm.

I have a strange power problem after upgrading. For example when I go to bed andd the batteries at 70% when I wake up it is at like 10% (Maybe Sleep Computing) and when I get home after work the before work today it was 98% and after work with no usage it was like 5% (Ghost). I figured dell would tell to do a hard reset or go back to A05 but instead there send me a new one. Hope its a good refurbished one, mine only a month old it would suck if they send me a refurbished one thats a year old. Maybe I should just try going back to the old A05. Has anybody had the same type of problem, is there a setting that might cause that, a couple of times when I got home from work the display was on?

Well since Dell is shipping you out a replacement why don't you try to go back to A05 and see if it makes a difference.
Cant hurt since they are shipping one to you anyway...
Let us know what you find though.

Long time reader, first time poster...WOOHOO! I hope I am not stepping on anyones toes when I post this... I too am runnning A06, I am not having the power issues as mentioned prior. My Processor is set to Auto and reads 208 mhz. The battery life seems to be the same as A05. Something else mentioned is the Beam via Bluetooth option in the "Tools" section of whatever program has this option available to it, i.e. Calendar. Speaking with Tech Supp at Dell a few times now, they have told me there "Will" be a patch made for this issue. I have run through a couple of tests with them on installing A06, such as doing a Hard Reset after the upgrade. I guess take it with a grain of salt as far as the patch goes but it does seem Dell is trying vigorously to fix this. I kinda feel like a guinea pig. I will keep all of you posted if you like on what they come up with. BTW, thanks for all the good reading.

I took the bold step and did the upgrade. I did a fresh install of all my apps and it seems like everything is working great. I have not noticed the battery life issue that you are all speaking on. I do have an extended battery but it seems to hold up like is has in the past.
