I also updated my Axim X30 (624 Mhz) - No problems at all.
However, before I executed the update I contacted the Dell Helpdesk (Amsterdam, Netherlands) and they assured me, that if for some reason my PDA would not work at all anymore after the update and they were not able to fix it, I would get a brand new one.
On the other hand, it might be reassuring for you to know, that in the update software Dell built in the possibility to make a backup of your "old" ROM version and, if necessary, restore it to your PDA.
For what it's worth...

Worked like a charm...but only after the ActiveSync reported an error during the first update. Thankfully, a reset did the trick and the update reinitiated and all is so very good.

I just updated mine from A03 to A06.
I backed up my files and updgraded and then reinstalled everykthing via the back up. Everything seems to work well except for Windows Media Player. Whenever I start it searches for the skin.. as if it doesnt recognize the skin files ( Default(Landscape).skn, Default(Portrait).skn, Default(Square).skn).
Any ideas on whats going on here?
Thanks in advance.

This issue is unrelated to the A06 update and has to do with restoring from a backup. this topic was HEAVILY discussed when A05 came out. do a search, you will find more information than you can read in one day!

Ok I found the info, but i've decided I would start from scratch, all that installing a program and messing with the registry seems problematic. Anyways, but now I have another problem, my Axim doesn't want to hard reset. I press the button for a few seconds but nothing, it does a soft reset. Is it another upgrade problem?
Edit: nevermind, I thought I knew how to hard reset, but I do.

can't help you there... i haven't taken the A06 plunge yet. or probably ever. too many downsides to A06. i upgraded to A05. and i guess that is where it will stay unless they fix the mess they created.

Wow, what an improvement! My Active Sync now runs at blistering speed! Seems all programs just run faster!
I did back up to me storage card as recommended. Then I did the download and followed all instructions carefully. It took a bit of time for it to do what it had to do. It had me a bit scared with the restore to original mode but when I did restore off back up I had on my 1 Gig SD all went well.
I recommend this upgrade!!

Well, I upgraded to A06, then decided to go back to A05 only because my ThinkOutside Bluetooth keyboard doesn't yet work with Bluetooth 1.5, which is what A06 upgrades us to. However, after downgrading, I still had 1.5! How can I keep 1.4? It did work once, but only for one soft reset...Some beta program froze and I had to soft reboot, and then I was back to 1.5... Anyone know what I can do here?

I upgraded from A03 to A06 a couple of weeks back. And I usually don't do these upgrades because i'm a firm believer of "whatever is not broke, do not fix"... but since there have been so many roms updates since A03 I figure i'd do it. It was a little hectic at first as I decided to do a clean install, in other words, no backups, just clean A06 update. And it took a while because i had to instead every single app that I had before one at a time.
Now, everything seems fine... but the only problem I have is that the battery drains alot faster now. Even when using just the scheduler, the battery takes a hit if I used it a few times a day to update my schedule. This not a "big problem" but its definately annoying. Anybody have a fix for this? Or will I have to put up with this until the next rom update?

I have heard a lot of people say the same thing, it has not been a real big deal with me. Guess we will have to live with it until the next fix.

Yea, straight from thinkoutside.com. It's the Universal Bluetooth Keyboard, and says "Cannot find Bluetooth system."

Just updated. Backed up using ActiveSync. Restored Using ActiveSync.
Also backed up my A05 Rom.
Everything is perfect. It Sync's faster. Audio quality sharper. The processor says 624 when max. 208 when in power save. and 208 when in auto mode.
I'll let you know if the power seems to drain any faster. I do use Odyssey, and It's connection speed has improved when connecting to my WEP home network.
I like it.
