I'll let you know if the power seems to drain any faster. I do use Odyssey, and It's connection speed has improved when connecting to my WEP home network.

I like it.

I have a Uk model and did the upgrade. No power problems. The upgrade did appear to 'hang' at the end with flashing green light and 'continue...' on the screen. After much waiting needed a soft reset.
Only thing I notice is that Oddessy has remained at the 1314 version - maybe I need to do the upgrade again ?
Everything else is fine - no impovement, no impediment to the way I use the X30 high.

Just finished going through all the pages of this thread.

Quick Q: My ROM version is A02(06100400EN). Should I do an A05 upgrade (What are the upgrades to A05)?

Thanks.

I found the answer:

A05:
-Upgrade your PDA with new Windows Mobile Second Edition ver 4.21.1088(build 14260.2.0.2)

-Upgrade your PDA Widows Media Player with Windows Media Player 10 Mobile. (build 14235)

-Enhance wireless stability. (The enhancement is only for 624MHz & 312MHz integrated Wi-Fi, Bluetooth model)

-Enhance SDIO bus driver.

I have A05.. is it worth shifting to A06? I've heard that some people have had problems with A06.

Not if you have a Think Outside Universal Keyboard...other than that, it's fine for me!

Please don't start the no WM5 arguement. It's closed as we know it and there was never a spec of chance we would have seen it come to the X30s. Also, if you're new why didn't you get the X50 then?! :rolling:

Ok I just realized why my SD card is so slow on my PDA...It may be because of this upgrade!!! And this is a replacement Axim, which cannot be downgraded to A05...What on earth can I do here? I desperately need to downgrade now, to see if that is the problem. The card works fine and fast on my PC...

WOW that sucks! Thinking of that, it sucks for everyone who got the replacement plan. If your axim breaks, they are going to replace it with an Axim that has A06 on it, like this poor guy. Dell should give you the option, considering how horrible that update is.

Mike (A05) <--- i thought that was funny.

Well, not entirely true...I did receive a replacement about a month before this one, which only had A02 on it...Luckily, this one has a dead pixel :O which is more than enough of a reason to get it replaced...:D

Found in Aximsite:
"Here's the workaround for the Funk client version:

If you do the A06 update, and then restore your files from a backup, you must finally copy
\Windows\OdClientCE.exe
to
\Program Files\Funk Software\OdClientCE.exe

The executable in the Windows directory is in ROM, and therefore remains the same new (updated) version from the A06 update, regardless of the files you restore from a backup.

The executable in Program Files is in RAM, but is the one that is executed."

upgrade from A02, SD drive failure

Hi,

I checked and it appears I'm running Rom Version A02 (06100400EN) on my X30 624MHz. I've been happy with my Axim so far so I don't see a need to necessarily upgrade. The battery lasts me all day (usually 16 hours or so). But if I do upgrade, should I maybe upgrade to A05 to be safe? I downloaded R97096 (which I think is A05) from the link posted above.

Also, this may be off topic, but for some reason my SD card won't read anymore. This just happened within the past few days. I can stick the card into a desktop or laptop reader and read/write to it just fine. But on my Axim, even after soft reset, it can't detect it. Could my Axim's SD card slot/reader be broken? Should I have been doing anything special before inserting/removing the card (like powering off or something)?

Thanks,

ApeMan

A06

I downloaded it a little while back and My axim X30 I has been odd ever since. Occasionally I I have to reset it for no reason. It has locked up on me 4 or five times the networking via UNC paths is now super fast I have no issues copying file via UNC path from my pc to my axim through wifi I'd say it's a 50/50 mix. I would love to go back to A03 whihc was very stable for me but I like all the new benefits too much. Guess I'll just have to deal with the occasional new bugs until A07
