Well I went a head and did it......I upgraded to A06
Yes, everyone I took the plunge and upgraded my X30 to A06. And besides the features mentioned below, I dont seen any improvement on the surface. Maybe underneathe. I did backup everything and also had to reinstall everything and do a hard restart. But it looks just like it did when I took it out of the box. Unless its important for you to upgrade, you can save yourself the time. Of course I did it anyway. But if you want to do it anyway, no damage, at least for me, was done to my PDA. John

1. Added feature that allows the WLAN auto power-off feature to be enabled and/or disabled in the Power applet.
2. Updated the Funk Odyssey client to version 2.00.00.1681
3. Updated the Bluetooth stack to version 1.5.0.4300
4. Added support for Go Daddy SSL certificate
I don't know if I will update right away or not. I don't feel like taking the time, but the Bluetooth stack update is tempting. I wonder what it does.
I installed A06 & all apps from scratch on my X30H (version A10) and these are my findings:
-Could not view processor speed in Settings/Power (this was fixed by installing system update R106681.EXE from Dell). Set to Auto with no problems
-Freedom BT keyboard driver installed and it worked
-New tab, WLAN in Settings/Power
-Activsyncing via cradle was much faster :)
-Browsing UNC paths over wifi was GREAT (even with Power Management ON) Actually, doing anything over wifi was quick :)
-No Send/Dial via Bluetooth in PIM :realmad:
-Battery life decreased dramatically with my normal everyday use :realmad:
-Could not use easySMS after bonding with V620. X30 kept hanging when trying to connect over BTC1
Now, I have reverted back to A05. I'll rather wait for the next update.
Greetings,
I just did the ROM overwrite, moving from A05 to A06. However, I'm not successful in restoring the files. Can you offer advice on this? I backed it up using bothe ActiveSync and the backup step in the A06 update (these are .ris files).
One thing I noticed after doing the update was that the backup file is defaulted to a folder used under the computer's previous owner's login. So, maybe ActiveSync is comparing the ID of my Axim to that file and recognizing that my Axim is not the previous owner's Axim. However, that is MY backup file...
Also, I'm fine reverting to A05 if that's an option.
Help is greatly appreciated. My life is on this PDA!

Hi i'm new here, i just purchased an x30 high off the internet, only to find it with a french boot rom. No problem, i thought, i'll just whip the update on the sd card (since the usb cable was missing) and run it. Yeah. good plan, now its (slightly) worse than french, its dead. Pressing the power button doesnt do ANYTHING at all, it wont blink, bleep, whatever. I DID NOT INTERRUPT ANYTHING. I just told it to update, i left it alone on a power cable and watched a movie. Movie over, pda life over. Nice. Anyone have any ideas on how to revive this thing?

Sounds like you may have used the wrong .img file from the update file. No clue how, or if, you can recover from that.

i got the img file from the a06 update, the C file, i dont know the exact name but i'm pretty sure its the right one. Could an early hardware revision be the cause?
Im using a German Version of the X30. And my actuall ROM-Version is A01, would it be possible to Patch it with the English A06? Cant imagine that the German A01 matchs the International A06 ...
If this is possible it would be nice if some German Aximsite Users would share their experience of Patching a German Axim with an International ROM Upgrade.
i tired updating to a06 but after i backed up my rom it went to the screen where it says that it is deleting the flash. at that screen it said failed to delete flash so i let it run for a long time. When i got back the pda was off and now i cannot turn it on. Any advise on how to fix it?
I updated my Axim and it took quite a while to do. So far so good and everthing seems to work as good or better than before. The only exception might be windows media player. I used to be able to play my mp3's with no fuss. Now it seems that everytime I turn off the Axim the list of mp3's that shows up on the music list says unknown and won't play. Then I have to go to the sd card and play from there. I am thinking of getting a new player. Is there any good free players?
