New ROM Upgrade for Axim30 (A06)

all you need to do is run the R101483.EXE file and when it asks you what to do restore/backup -- Upgrade, choose restore and the "A05_C_10070400EN.RIS" you backed up prior to the A06 install it will restore to the A05 version no problem. That's what I did to mine.

I sorted this out in the meantime. The back of the router has 2 passwords, one for the wifi and one for the softphone. The wifi code is written grey on black so can't be read easily. Anyway, it's been fixed and and I'm still on A06 without any visible improvements.

Does anyone know if there is a rom update for the Axim X3? I am still at A02, and am only able to find A01 on dell.com ... help!

I tried downloading this A06 ROM and tried installation but it is meant for an X30, so it doesn't work.

Anyone ?

i did the upgrade to the 6 from a 5 and the everything went good i am not even locking up as much as i was before, the only thing that i have noticed was the the speaker does not play as loud as before. may be mono but great when sitting at work and pushing paper for 10 or 15 mins

Hi, first Post.

I am not able to Upgrade the ROM Version of my X30.

I downloaded the a06 Update and unpacked it via the installer. As soon as the Updater Shows up i get the error message that the "System Update File can not be found". I allready reinstalled the Update but that does not help.

I also tried the a02 and a05 Update, i get the same Message.

Currently i am running on a01 with Windows 2003 Second Edition, German Language.

forget about my comment about the speaker not playing as load as before the upgrade. need to learn to read manual and not rely on playing with things to learn.

I dont know what causes my problem but i upgraded to A06 using the method Argentina suggested in this thread.

You can even downgrade with the same method, i changed to a05 after i found out that my dial via bluetooth function is not present.

Well, I just borred a buddy's X30 624MHz version, updated it to A06 right from A01 and now I cannot connect to any wireless spots?? Wifi is powered on, checked the profile, did the endless Wifi "fix" but still, it just says "connecting" for eternity.

Any ideas? maybe I should start a new thread. :p

Studied all the messages on this topic and wondered if anyone can help on the following.

I have an X30L fitted with the original ROM (A00 - 04300400EN) and it's working fine except for one thing. After upgrading to 'Windows Media Player 11' on my desktop, I get the message :-

"Your device is using an outdated driver that is no longer supported by Windows Media Player. For additional assistance, click Web Help."

The 'X30' is of course running V9 of the player. If I were to take the plunge and upgrade to ROM A05 with 'Media Player 10' support, would this get round the problem, and if so, is resolving the 'player skins' issues easy to sort?

I don't have 'WiFi' or 'Bluetooth', so have no real need to upgrade other than to sort the 'Media Player' driver issue....that's if V10 on the Axim WILL sort it!

If not, guess I'll consider going back to V10 on the desktop....shame if I have to, as I really like the improvements in V11.

if ur on a05 just stick to it .. a06 less stable.. issues with power cpu speed adjustment sometimes doesnt show proper speed, also filesys.exe becomes so demanding (runs at 70% and more all the time) that makes ur pocket pc very very slow or slugish or non-responsive and as the cpu time is mostly used alot by filesys.exe battery life decreases considerably... if you are on a05 just keep it as it is .. if something earlier best update is a05.. i am trying to figure out a way to downgrade to a05.. i dont know if my rom backup of another x30 high would work on this device to downgrade it ...

how do i know if i have a05?

From Start, go to:

Settings -> System -> System Information

There should be a line stating the ROM Version.
