3 block recognizer???

Isn't that a 3 box graffiti input option???

Box 1 would be for lower letters
Box 2 would be for capital letters
Box 3 would be for numbers.

I thought there was an option for this.
I cant seem to find it, was it a 3rd party app maybe???

Also I have gone into settings | Personal | Input, and chose block recognizer, but it does not default to the the block recognizer input box's.
When I need to enter info it is defaulted to the keyboard.

Am I in the correct place to set the default graffiti input???
Thanks

Be sure to select block recognizer while in something like PocketWord, it will remember that you had that input method used last...

Just so I can understand, why would you want part of your screen taken up by a Graffiti box? Why not use Transcriber or Calligrapher if you desire writing recognition?

Because by the looks of his avatar, he has used PalmOS in the past and probably knows Graffiti quite well. If this is the case, he'll probably get much better accuracy than if he uses Transcriber.

Yes you hit the nail right on the head.
With the T3 it has a 3 partitioned graffiti area, so that when you right on the left side your writing lower case.
Middle is always caps.
Right side is always numbers.
Once you get used to this you can fly.

Even though I have been a Palm user for many years.
This x30h is my first experience with the land of the PPC.
Is there a app or option???
I thought PPC also had this feature.
Thanks

I see four options: block recognizer (Palm-like), keyboard, letter recognizer (what you're looking for), and transcriber. I'm a former Palm user. I use block recognizer for three reasons:

1. I know my graffiti, and I'm quick with it.

2. The word completion absolutely ROCKS!!!111!

3. I don't have the patience to pause and wait for transcriber to convert my scribblings.

Yeah, "letter recognizer" is close to what I am looking for.
The T3's version was lower case first, caps second and numbers third.
It looks more like the "block recognizer" though, having 3 box's instead of 2.
There were not dotted lines, which is strange to me and, I am not sure why they are there in the PPC version.
Now if you could customize the DIA that would make make me feel at home again.

In respect to "word completion" yes, its nice that they Incorporated Text Plus into the PPC, or 2003SE OS(not sure if it's offered on any other version).

Thanks

Ahh, I get it now. I was a Palm IIIxe user. I didn't realize that later Palms had the 3 box entry space. Leave it to Palm vs. Windows to disagree on the order of the 3 boxes!

I'm accustomed to the up stroke to do a capital letter. It took me a while to learn that the Ax automatically capitalizes the first letter on a new line. My brain learned this quickly, but my hands kept doing the capital letter upstroke...

I vaguely remember that later versions of Palm OS had a slightly different graffiti alphabet than my old III, but didn't know the details. On your T3, did you use lower case "a" in both LC and UC spaces? I'm accustomed to the simplified capital A (which actually looks more like "^").

On another note, my Ax doesn't understand my "D" very well. It also sometimes makes my "o" into an "oe" if I'm just the least bit sloppy. Other than these two glitches, I'm happy with the Axim's implementation of the block recognizer.

Yes I know what you mean, my first PDA was a first generation Palm Pro.
I have grown accustomed and quick in my opinion to entering in graffiti the old fashion (single stroke input).
I to catch myself trying to up stroke for caps now, but I also purchased the newest units so during the m500 series they introduced graffiti 2, replacing graffiti 1, and how you input letters.
In other words after the IBM suite, you needed to go 2 stroke verse 1.
I found though that if you install the graffiti 1 files (Palm V, Vx, III, etc.)over the newer ones on a T3, or m500 series you could use the old single stroke method until you hard reset then you must reinstall and repeat all over again.

As to the input LC vs UC, yes you would enter your letters the same in either box and they would appear depending which box yo entered them into .
You could have all UC , or all LC, or a mix if you required.

But like the PC you could switch back and forth as you wanted, 3 box to the 2 box input DIA, or to a keyboard screen if you wanted.

I have had a few issues with D's P's and E's but then they work, so I always thought it was me.
Maybe I should look into this a bit.
