Arrow Storing Information on Axim and Its Security

I was wondering if any of you store private information on your Axim? If so what do you do to protect it, in case your Axim was stolen, hacked, etc...

I don't store any highly confidential information on my Axim, but if I did, I would enable the password on power up, as well as password-protect and/or encrypt documents, etc. I would also not store my backups in the BIS or storage cards because those could be used by anyone after a hard reset.

Use Ilium Software's eWallet to store your confidential information. It can make useable backup copies of your information on the PC, and it lets you share information cards with users of the Palm version too.

I use Nice Start as the password to get into my PPC. It can be set to allow a certain number of login attempts and after that number, it will freeze for a preset period of time that you select (e.g. 10 minutes, 15 minutes) before it will allow anymore tries. You can also set it to hard reset after a certain number of attempts, if you want.

I also don't keep anything confidential on my SD card or file store because a hard reset does nothing to the info on the card or file store. There are programs available to protect these "card" applications, but I prefer to keep all confidential stuff in my RAM memory.

I keep confidential information on my Axim but utilize the Axim's alphanumeric strong password feature. I also have my Owner Info screen pop-up with a message stating that there is confidential info on this device and any unauthorized access is a violation of local, state, and federal regulations (which it is) and is punishable by fine and/or imprisonment (which it is also).

My statement may not apply to your personal confidential records but does apply to medical/patient/etc records and info and so is warranted.

An increasing number of medical students/doctors/hospitals utilize PDAs for patient care with all sorts of confidential information stored on them. As was posted above, DO NOT store them on the BIS or storage card and ALWAYS password protect the device.

Chances are your PDA is not going to be hacked. More likely than not if will be lost or stolen. Even then, the person finding it would have to do a hard reset to gain access to it, wiping out any confidential info you have stored in the RAM (unless you are stupid and store it in the BIS or SD card which you should not do)
