Ok I Give Up..................

I know there is probably a simple explanation but it escapes me.

Have an Axim X30 and all of a sudden I now have 3 bars in the bottom right hand corner (I think to indicate strength of wireless connection) as when I click on one I end up at the DELL WLAN Utility. I'm sure I used to have just one, but I cannot get rid of the other 2. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

My X30 has five bars. Each one turns green as I get closer to my ap.Most of the time I have three bars green when I'm in my home office. The bars shouldn't show up untill you turn your wifi on.The blue tooth indicator is on all the time.

Not sure I understand. Usually there is one little 'stack' of 5 bars. Do you mean there's now 3 little stacks of 5 bars?

One stack(5 bars)The number of bars that turn green indicates how close you are to your wifi source.

The number of bars indicate signal strength.

Now that is an odd one.

Have you installed any new software recently? If so, try uninstalling the new program and see if that helps.

Are all three icons able to provide the connection quality and WLAN menu? If the icons work you can always just live with the annoyance.

Otherwise the solution may be a hard reset.

No new software installed. Somehow I don't fancy a hard reset - have a lot to lose!

Ps. All three sets work and take you to the DELL WLAN utility

Forget the hard reset, you haven't mentioned if you tried a simple soft reset? I've had display problems similar to that in the past and soft resetting has always corrected it.

Performed a soft reset and 2 sets of 5 bars have now disappeared - great.

Thanks for all the advice

Heh exiting the Dell WLAN Utility also helps, instead of a soft reset. If you aren't running any sort of X button application, then just exit the program from within the menu and it should go away. Just in case it happens again.
