Welcome to Aximsite!

What kind of installation are you talking about? If it's installing via ActiveSync, you can uncheck "Install program in the default installation folder" in the Add/Remove Programs window, and then choose an alternate location from the drop down menu. If you are talking about installing CAB files, use CABINSTL:

the problem is not installing the cabs, is because when I install applications it ask if i want to install the application on the "default directory", storage card etc etc , and I want to redirect the path to another folder, because when I choose Storage card, it install the programs in the root folder, and is kind of a mess all those folders, for example if i create an folder in the storage card named as program files (\Storage Card\Program Files\) for example and want the future applications I install be stored there, where I go and change the set to accomplish this task?

I don't think you can specify a directory on the storage card to install to. Maybe a registry hack ... though I haven't heard of one. Here's a workaround that should work for the majority of your program installs.
  1. Install program to your storage card (or BIS if desired)
  2. Use file explorer (total commander is much better!) to create a new folder on your card
  3. Cut and Paste the newly installed directory and files to the appropriate folder
  4. Now the shortcut in the PROGRAMS menu will not work, so delete it
  5. Create a new shortcut to your .EXE file and put in Windows/Start Menu/Programs

Should be good to go :approve:

I think RobMan's suggestion would work for most apps. However, ones with scattered .dlls and registry changes may be more difficult.

yes !, that work, I 've been doing that, but there ara programs as you said, that make marks and set on the registry, I can edit the registry and make the changes, but honestly speaking, it is annoying, install an application move folders content , edit Windows registry ...hard task when you install and uninstall apps a lot..
what am looking is to change the default directory path to another location, I had tried with the registry ( no luck so far , as you can see) but som apps that are managed with ActiveSync goes directly to the embedded memory (\Programs files\) because dont know where ( and is what I want to know) where he take the path that leads to that folder... installing cabs with the application that GIGI suggest , it works, but inside the Pocket PC, what about with the Windows installed based programs (trough ActiveSync)?

you have to do this:
[ H K E Y _ L O C A L _ M A C H I N E \ S O F T W A R E \ A p p s \ M i c r o s o f t A p p l i c a t i o n I n s t a l l e r ]

" f A s k D e s t " = d w o r d : 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 1

" f A s k O p t i o n s " = d w o r d : 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0

" n D y n a m i c D e l e t e " = d w o r d : 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 2

" f E n a b l e C e f " = d w o r d : 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0

" S u p p o r t e d " = " \ " P A L M P C \ " "

yes is right. It is the default setting in the registry.

With the reg that I have posted, when you install a program you will be prompted for a folder in any place in you ppc. Bat so doing
you che choose only the first level directory.
Than yuo have to install this control panel http://www.geocities.co.jp/SiliconVa...filedlgchg.zip

This cpl intercept all call to the the standard file dialog and change with one that allow you to navigate in whatever you want folder in any level.

just copy the filedlgchg.cpl(is inside the zip file) in the windows directory and copy gsGetFile.dll (http://www.geocities.co.jp/SiliconVa...sgetfile-i.zip) in the same place.

soft reset.

I hope to be helpfull.

scuse my english.

I removed my shortcuts using the following method:

Pocket PC in Cradle
Go to windows explorer on host computer and search the pocket pc device for the windows folder then the start menu folder and delete shortcuts no longer needed.

Please read http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/ind...ions_on&more=1 - it explains everything, including CabInstl and Mad Programmer's FileDialogChanger.
