Question Power settings [processor speed]

on auto, the processor runs at 208MHz. If it is set to max then it runs at 624MHz. My question is how much power can you save (in terms of regular battery life) when the processor speed is set to auto.. and is it worth running at 208MHz? How many of you run your processor at max speed?

I have always run on auto with no problems.I'm sure running full power all the time will use more battery power and will not make much difference on most apps.

I always run mine on full power.

Didn't see much point in paying for a fast(ish) processor and then running it with the brakes on.

Fully understand the battery bit, but I do have an extended battery, and the unit is put on charge every night.

I suppose that if I knew I may be using the unit for a goodly period of time, without access to a spare battery or charging facility, then I would consider conceding some speed.

My choice has been to set it to auto all the time. When I got the beasty new I fiddled a bit between the settings. 208 just dragged things down, no point. In auto it pulls the power it needs, works well enough.

Yeah on auto it speeds up as it's needed, so it's not constantly eating battery power that it doesn't need to.

I run it full throttle as I charge overnight, and have the extended battery.

I too run auto power ... never any problems with any apps (gps included). I set mine at 624 before, and don't notice any degradation of performance on auto.

not always. especially notice it when using skinning. with 208 the pop up menus and everythin become very slow. I've also noticed that MS Voice Command (or any big program for that matter) tends to halt from time to time when running on 208. with 624 things just work more smoothly. I've set mine to max speed and really not that unhappy with the battery life. enough for my daily usage.. charge every night.
