wtf. 1gb sandisk sd card just got wiped clean

I just got home from school today after recording a buncha lectures. It was working fine when i just got home, and i was opening/deleting some files when the thing froze, and i had to reset it. When i powered it on, the button started flashing low battery so i put it on the charger. Now the battery is half full, but i find that my entire card has been wiped spot clean. ALL GONE. WTF???

what the hell is wrong with this thing? is my card defective or was running out of battery wiped my thing clean?

it probabaly messed up the FAT as it was writing to it when it froze, and left it mangled.

This has happened to others before. Very annoying. Search for SD cards losing data in the forums.

When this happened to me,I took the card out and placed it in a card reader and ran scan disk and it fixed it and I was able to recover the information. I think I also had to soft-reset before re-inserting the card to get this to work but don't understand why.

best thing to do is to use sprite backup on your desktop to backup ALL information on your PPC. you should check the option where it says backup non-volatile data.. this'll make sure that all data in your PPC RAM+BIS+SD will be backed up on your desktop computer and can be restored any time you want. you never know.. you might lose your ppc or it might get broken.

it must be the low on battery that caused this to happen...

If your main battery as well as the backup battery is totally drained then you'll lose all the data that was in your RAM. you won't lose any data that was either in built in storage or your SD card since they are non-volatile storage.
