SD Card Compatibility ?
Further to my request for SD card speed info, I bought a Toshiba 1GB SD card (SD-M01G). Using Pocket Mechanic, I ran the Storage Card Benchmark and got the following results (consistently):

Read speed: 1.17MB/s
Write speed: 0.01MB/s.

A sequencial write (only) with 128 sectors/block still only gives about 0.3MB/s.

Card is formatted for FAT32 and 4K clusters.

Are there compatibility problems with the X30 and certain SD cards or is this just a slow card?

Geoff.

Did you use it for anything yet? What's your real world experience been like?

It's fine other than it takes *ages* to write 100MB files (maps) to it. My unbranded 128MB is much faster.

I would expect 0.7MB/s write speed on the 1GB card (same as my 128 card). About 5x is not much to ask really IMHO.

That's true. You might want to try Card Export II to xpped up wrte time to your device or do like I did and get a card reader for your PC. Both methods cut out the Activesync USB to Serial bottleneck and will save you some time.

Just to close this thread, my SD card was faulty and I am replacing it with a Kingston 512 Pro SD card.

I am using a SanDisk 1.0GB card in my X3i with no problems. I back up to it in full back up mode 2 or 3 times a week. I've had it for almost 2 months.

X3 2gb sd problem
I have been using my dell axim x3 without any problems with a 1gb sd card.
I was recently given a 2gb sd card; but my pda will not run TTN 5 on it !

Does this mean the 2gb sd card is not supported on the dell axim x3 :

I've been using Lexar and Sandisk 2GB cards for years with no issues.

Depends on the card. My card, see myPDA works fine. There's a few second delay in accessing it.
