ksc-35 $30

check http://www.koss.com

Not the best looking, but it is certainly the best sounding portable phones.

Koss are great. I've got a pair of Koss KSC-50's and they sound brilliant. No sqaushed headphone-head after prolonged use either...

I can't remember where the review was but the 35 is meant to be better if you're going to be moving about a lot. The 50's (though newer in design) are looser on the ears and prone to falling off.

I use these Sonys and love them:

Sony MDR-EX70LP

These are earbuds, but not the flat type that sit just inside your ear. These are more like earplugs and really do sound great.

Sony offers a newer version for $10 less, but I can't speak to the difference, other than the newer ones only have two sets of interchangable earbuds rather than three:

MDR-EX51LP
