Found! Symbol Drivers for PPC 2003

:attn:
I am posting this in hopes it will help others out there. I finally called Symbol Tech support directly - SUPER people to do business with, speak & understand English if you know what I mean.
BTW: He told me that Symbol & Socket are NOT the same cards, so be sure you are using the right drivers for your card & OS.
Here is the link:

.....The Pocket PC 2003 drivers are available from the following website; click on the link for “driver only” and download/install accordingly.....

http://www.symbol.com/legacy_downloads/spec24_windows_xp.html

INSTRUCTIONS:
Setting up the Wireless Networker: LA-4137
SYMPTOMS:

LA-4137 card not flashing and not being recognized by host hardware.
CAUSE:
Drivers and setup install procedures must be installed and executed.

RESOLUTION:
Download the correct drivers for your operating system version. Execute the drivers for the LA-4137 off the Symbol website: http://www.symbol.com/services/downl...24_select.html

ACTION STEPS
Steps To Resolve or Reproduce Error
1. Always download current drivers from website as the drivers supplied on the CD are back dated.

2. From the today screen on the unit, tap on the networker icon in the bottom right of the display.

3. In the mode tab, you can enter your ESSID (it is case sensitive)

4. Apply the change by pressing the Apply tab.

5. Select IP Config tab to specify for DHCP or Static IP address selection.

6. Apply the change by pressing the Apply tab.

7. To select Encryption, press the arrow keys to get additional tabs.Tap on the Encryption tab.

8. Apply the change by pressing the Apply tab

9. To look at the signal strength you can tap on the Signal tab and see the quality on the graph

10. You can also select the Ping tab to start a ping test or the AP tab to show know AP’s.

11. When done select ok.

12. When associated, the Icon will show the card and a green bar graph sign behind it.

Do I get a "Atta Girl"?? :yeah:

I'd give you an 'atta girl' except the drivers were never missing. I happened to post them again just yesterday in a thread about the socket card. BTW, that info is also a little inaccurate. While the current Socket card is different, the old version was the same hardware as the Symbol card and many people have used the alternate company's drivers successfully.

I REALLY thought I was doing my Axim members a favor with my post because I was told by Symbol that the Socket/Symbol drivers you talk about should NOT be used. I was told to use the Symbol (only) drivers he sent directly to me.
Since I talked to Symbol directly, I feel I got my information straight from "The horses' mouth", so to speak.
I did a search for the Symbol drivers on this site before I posted, but nothing came up. So either I didn't look far enough or they were (are?) buried under another title? I think I did see your "Symbol/Socket drivers but wasn't sure they would work for me. Rather take the extra step....be safe then sorry!
Thanks for Reading
PS I don't need a "Atta Girl".... I'm a big girl and can take it!

Well, in fact, Socket no longer has drivers for the old card on their site so Symbol CS was correct in telling you not to use the drivers on the Socket site. My post yesterday was actually suggesting to someone with an old Socket card that they should use the Symbol drivers (the opposite situation to yours).

BTW, I am sorry it looked like I was putting down your post. I wasn't on the site when you started the other thread asking for the drivers or I would have pointed you to the Symbol site and let you know the current Socket drivers wouldn't work.

Thank You... Much appreciated...truthfully I did feel a bit put down, but being a lady I decided to let it pass. Glad I did. Last thing I wanted was a "cyberwar"
Keep up the good work & thank you for moving my post to where it belonged as I wasn't sure where to put it, and... well... I am sure you didn't want to tell a lady where to go!
