Heart Review: iProducts Swivel Holster For Axim X5

I would like to offer a review of a product.

I recently purchased the iHolster from iProducts (http://www.iproductsonline.net) for my Dell Axim X5.

Here is the link to the product:
http://www.iproductsonline.net/catal...im_1770779.htm

This holster is by far the best holster that I've seen for my PDA out there.

Here are the good points:

1. It is made of VERY durable Kydex which is in my opinion better than those "plastic" type holsters you see for Cell phones. (I would rather see my cell phone fall to the ground than my PDA!)

2. The Design was well thought out. You can slip the Axim in and out without hitting any buttons and it can be face out or face in. Face in, it will not touch the screen thus preventing scratches to the display.

3. A snug fit. My Axim fits very snugly - it does not "Clip" or "Snap" into the holster so with normal activity - bending over etc, the device will not "fall" out. However extreme activity like skating or extreme activities may not be a good idea.

4. The Swivel clip is keyed so that you have to have the holster at a 90 degree angle to lock it down and remove it thus preventing the device to come detached while sitting (this was clever).

5. The Swivel attachment on the holster itself was well thought out. It is riveted to the holster not "form molded" to prevent it from just snapping off like most cases I've seen. Also - it is attached with very durable double stick tape before it's riveted to prevent it from just spinning on the case.

6. No restrictions for CF Cards. There are no obstructions to prevent the use of your CF Cards and headphone jack which makes the holster good for use as an MP3 "Walkman" or walking around with the 802.11 card.

7. Quick Draw - Overall design makes it easy to get at the PDA without having to flip, zip or rip at anything and when it's out, you have nothing "attached" to the device to worry about getting in the way.

Here are the bad points:

1. The bottom of the case does not allow for you to slip on the Serial Sync Cable nor does it allow you to use the auto charger while inside the holster thus making it useless for mobile use. Perhaps they will create a mobile mount for the Axim like they did the iPAQ: http://www.iproductsonline.net/catal...nt_1277615.htm

2. Well - I can't think of any other bad points about the case. It's priced a bit high at 31 bucks - I would like to see the price drop a few dollars because with shipping it is over 40 bucks! Perhaps iProducts can give Aximsite users a special deal.

This product gets a 4 Star rating - I would highly recommend one to anyone that is looking for a holster type solution to their Axim.

If you have any other questions that were not listed in this review, please feel free to email me at: director@usict.org and I would be glad to answer any of your questions.

Happy Holstering.

OK, I've looked at every case I can find in the world, and there seems to be no competition.
My Axim deserves a Vaja case.
Thanks for the great list and all the great input!

Dell case - PocketJoey

Here is another case specific to the AXIM. Comes with Lanyard and belt clip so you can use it while on the move. Ideal for anyone using their AXIM in business, trades or niche markets where protection and use are paramount.

This is GREAT

Good work mate..... I wish that other threads on the Aximers site included such useful info/links - clearly you have spent time on this and I (and by the replies), and many others are grateful. I notice that there is one site that you might find useful www.proporta.com - they manufacture an aluminium case (I have one) and it is superb. Very sturdy, stylish with all the holes in the right places and very light. It doesn't cater for the larger battery but, ignoring that, is, in my opionion, top notch !
Thanks again,

MDR

p.s. Hope other users that have done similar finger work provide the same sort of links.

p.p.s. Maybe the Website Meister might pick up on this and offer an 'Aximer of the Month Award'.

Cheers

Actually, Proporta is the same case as Innopocket and Rhino Skin. So, you know Rhino Skin purchased the line of Axim cases from Innopocket- the maker of these cases. So right now this item will only be available from Rhino Skin.

Please correct me if I am wrong.
