Greetings -

Has anyone tried the Pretec SmartMedia to Compact Flash adapter on their Axim? I would like to pick one up so that I can use my Axim and it's 256mb SD card as a way to transfer pictures off of my Digital Camera's SmartMedia card while I am away from my PC.

You can check it out here: Pretec

Thanks.

t

I just received my Pretec Smartmedia to CF2 converter. It works great with my 16mb Smartmedia card. It can read the pictures I took on my digital camera no problem.

You can't use this adapter with SD cards. I think tbone wanted to put a Smartmedia card in the adapter, put the adapter in the CF slot, then transfer the pictures to the SD card.

I have a 128 mb smartmedia card and the pretec CF adaptor. It works wonderfully!

Because it is made only for smart media cards, you wont be able to stick an SD card in it.

sooo....copy the pics off the smart media card via the adaptor and move 'em over to the SD. you can then empty the smart media card in your camera and start all over.

I got all kinds of pics there, and its a great thing to take on trips and save lots of room in my wallet

Would the adapter also work on a digicam? My problem is that I have SM cards from an old camera, but now I have a Canon which only uses CF. I was hoping that I'd be able to use the adapter on both my Ax and my Canon camera. I looked at the picture on the website and it seems like it would stick out a lot.

Thanks,

Gigi

My brother has a Canon digital Elph. I'll be going to his wedding soon so I'll see if I can test out the adapter in his camera. I have a good feeling that it will work and it will stick out almost an inch.

Thanks Sarc, I'm quite sure you are right about the adapter sticking out. But still, I think it would be a good way to use my SM cards, which now gather dust!

Please keep us posted.

Thanks,

Gigi
