Question Memory Speed Guru needed.

I have an San Disk 32Meg Multimedia card that I bought for my digital camera last year also a 64Meg Compact Flash. I put each in my card reader seperately and tried to load music files on them. The compact flash was more than twice as fast in the same reader! I was surprised at the difference.

So what's the scoop? Are some SD or MMC devices faster than others? And what is the range of differences?

Memory cards do have different speed ratings. Any speed is supposed to work in the Ax. In other words, a faster card won't work faster in your Ax. But it will work faster in your card reader, and might work faster in other devices.

SD and MMC are accessed serially (SD is 4-bit serial). CF is accessed in parallel. So all other things being equal, CF willbe faster thanAx CF bus isn't all that fast. (?)
